वायुरुवाच ॥ कालकाष्ठानिमेषादिकलाकलितविग्रहम् ॥ कालात्मेति समाख्यातं तेजो माहेश्वरं परम् ॥ ६ ॥
Vāyu said:— It is the great splendour of lord Śiva named Kālātman. Kalā, Kāṣṭḥā, Nimeṣa are the forms it embodies.
english translation
यदलंघ्यमशेषस्य स्थावरस्य चरस्य च ॥ नियोगरूपमीशस्य बलं विश्वनियामकम् ॥ ७ ॥
It is the power of the lord that controls the universe in the form of directives which are untransgressable to the universe consisting of the mobile and immobile beings.
english translation
तस्यांशांशमयी मुक्तिः कालात्मनि महात्मनि ॥ ततो निष्क्रम्य संक्रांता विसृष्टाग्रेरिवायसी ॥ ८ ॥
The Energy in the form of Kāla consists of its various parts. It comes out of it and permeates it like the piece of steel that sheds sparks of fire.
english translation
तस्मात्कालवशे विश्वं न स विश्ववशे स्थितः ॥ शिवस्य तु वशे कालो न कालस्य वशे शिवः ॥ ९ ॥
The universe is under the control of Kāla. Kāla is not under the control of the universe. Kāla is under the control of Śiva. Śiva is not subject to its control.
english translation
यतो ऽप्रतिहतं शार्वं तेजः काले प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥ महती तेन कालस्य मर्यादा हि दुरत्यया ॥ १० ॥
Since the unobstructed splendour of Śiva is firmly fixed in Kāla the limit of Kāla is extensive and is untransgeressable.
