मूलविद्या शिवं शैवं सूत्रं पञ्चाक्षरं तथा ॥ नामान्यस्य विजानीयाच्छैवं मे हृदयं महत् ॥ ५१ ॥

This mantra is otherwise called Mūlavidyā, Śivam, Śaivasūtra, and five-syllabled. This Śaiva mantra is my great heart.

english translation

mUlavidyA zivaM zaivaM sUtraM paJcAkSaraM tathA ॥ nAmAnyasya vijAnIyAcchaivaM me hRdayaM mahat ॥ 51 ॥

नकारश्शिर उच्येत मकारस्तु शिखोच्यते ॥ शिकारः कवचं तद्वद्वकारो नेत्रमुच्यते ॥ ५२ ॥

The syllable n is called the head, and the syllable m is called the head. The hunter is the shield and the vowel is the eye.

nakArazzira ucyeta makArastu zikhocyate ॥ zikAraH kavacaM tadvadvakAro netramucyate ॥ 52 ॥

यकारो ऽस्त्रं नमस्स्वाहा वषठुंवौषडित्यपि ॥ फडित्यपि च वर्णानामन्ते ऽङ्गत्वं यदा तदा ॥ ५३ ॥

The syllable y is the weapon, and the syllable namas svāhā is also used. Whenever the characters end in phadi and become a part of the character.

yakAro 'straM namassvAhA vaSaThuMvauSaDityapi ॥ phaDityapi ca varNAnAmante 'GgatvaM yadA tadA ॥ 53 ॥

तत्रापि मूलमंत्रो ऽयं किंचिद्भेदसमन्वयात् ॥ तत्रापि पञ्चमो वर्णो द्वादशस्वरभूषितः ॥ ५४ ॥

There too, the same is the Mūlamantra with a slight difference. The fifth Varṇa is bedecked by the twelfth vowel (‘ḥ’).

tatrApi mUlamaMtro 'yaM kiMcidbhedasamanvayAt ॥ tatrApi paJcamo varNo dvAdazasvarabhUSitaH ॥ 54 ॥

तास्मादनेन मंत्रेण मनोवाक्कायभेदतः ॥ आवयोरर्चनं कुर्याज्जपहोमादिकं तथा ॥ ५५ ॥

The devotee shall worship me with Japa, Homa, etc., mentally, verbally and physically through this Mantra.

tAsmAdanena maMtreNa manovAkkAyabhedataH ॥ AvayorarcanaM kuryAjjapahomAdikaM tathA ॥ 55 ॥
