दृष्टो रुद्रेण देवो ऽसावसृजद्विश्वमीश्वरः ॥ वर्णाश्रमव्यवस्थां च चकार स पृथक्पृथक् ॥ ११ ॥
Brahmā viewed by Rudra created the universe. He prescribed the rules for different bastes and stages of life separately.
english translation
dRSTo rudreNa devo 'sAvasRjadvizvamIzvaraH ॥ varNAzramavyavasthAM ca cakAra sa pRthakpRthak ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसोमं ससर्ज यज्ञार्थे सोमाद्द्यौस्समजायत ॥ धरा च वह्निः सूर्यश्च यज्ञो विष्णुश्शचीपतिः ॥ १२ ॥
For the sake of sacrifice he created Soma. From Soma was born the heaven, earth, fire, sun, sacrifice, Viṣṇu and Indra.
english translation
somaM sasarja yajJArthe somAddyaussamajAyata ॥ dharA ca vahniH sUryazca yajJo viSNuzzacIpatiH ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते चान्ये च सुरा रुद्रं रुद्राध्यायेन तुष्टुवुः ॥ प्रसन्नवदनस्तस्थौ देवानामग्रतः प्रभुः ॥ १३ ॥
They and the gods eulogised Rudra with the hymns dedicated to him. The lord stood before the gods with his face beaming with delight.
english translation
te cAnye ca surA rudraM rudrAdhyAyena tuSTuvuH ॥ prasannavadanastasthau devAnAmagrataH prabhuH ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपहृत्य स्वलीलार्थं तेषां ज्ञानं महेश्वरः ॥ तमपृच्छंस्ततो देवाः को भवानिति मोहिताः ॥ १४ ॥
The lord took away their knowledge, sportively. The deluded gods asked him, “Who are you Śir?”
english translation
apahRtya svalIlArthaM teSAM jJAnaM mahezvaraH ॥ tamapRcchaMstato devAH ko bhavAniti mohitAH ॥ 14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसो ऽब्रवीद्भगवान्रुद्रो ह्यहमेकः पुरातनः ॥ आसं प्रथममेवाहं वर्तामि १ च सुरोत्तमाः ॥ १५ ॥
Then Lord Rudra replied: I am the one ancient Lord. I was the first and I am 1 and the best of the gods.
english translation
so 'bravIdbhagavAnrudro hyahamekaH purAtanaH ॥ AsaM prathamamevAhaM vartAmi 1 ca surottamAH ॥ 15 ॥
