उपमन्युरुवाच ॥ शैवं संक्षिप्य वेदोक्तं शिवेन परिभाषितम् ॥ स्तुतिनिंदादिरहितं सद्यः प्रत्ययकारणम् ॥ ६ ॥

Upamanyu said:— The Vedas have briefly described Lord Śiva as the source of all knowledge. Without praise, condemnation, etc., it is immediately the cause of conviction.

upamanyuruvAca ॥ zaivaM saMkSipya vedoktaM zivena paribhASitam ॥ stutiniMdAdirahitaM sadyaH pratyayakAraNam ॥ 6 ॥

गुरुप्रसादजं दिव्यमनायासेन मुक्तिदम् ॥ कथयिष्ये समासेन तस्य शक्यो न विस्तरः ॥ ७ ॥

By the grace of the spiritual master it is divine and easily liberating. I shall tell you in brief but it is not possible to explain it in detail.

guruprasAdajaM divyamanAyAsena muktidam ॥ kathayiSye samAsena tasya zakyo na vistaraH ॥ 7 ॥

सिसृक्षया पुराव्यक्ताच्छिवः स्थाणुर्महेश्वरः ॥ सत्कार्यकारणोपेतस्स्वयमाविरभूत्प्रभुः ॥ ८ ॥

Formerly, with the desire to create, lord Śiva, equipped with the causes of the effects already present, manifested himself from the unmanifest.

जनयामास च तदा ऋषिर्विश्वाधिकः प्रभुः ॥ देवानां प्रथमं देवं ब्रह्माणं ब्रह्मणस्पतिम् ॥ ९ ॥

Then the lord, the sage, superior to all procreated the first of the gods Brahmā, the Brahmaṇaspati.

janayAmAsa ca tadA RSirvizvAdhikaH prabhuH ॥ devAnAM prathamaM devaM brahmANaM brahmaNaspatim ॥ 9 ॥

ब्रह्मापि पितरं देवं जायमानं न्यवैक्षत ॥ तं जायमानं जनको देवः प्रापश्यदाज्ञया ॥ १० ॥

While being born, Brahmā saw the lord his father. The lord saw and commanded him.
