कदाचित्क्षीरमत्यल्पं पीतवान्मातुलाश्रमे ॥ ईर्षयया मातुलसुतं संतृप्तक्षीरमुत्तमम् ॥ ११ ॥
Once in his maternal uncle’s hermitage he drank very little milk. Out of envy he satisfied his maternal uncle's son with excellent milk.
english translation
kadAcitkSIramatyalpaM pItavAnmAtulAzrame ॥ IrSayayA mAtulasutaM saMtRptakSIramuttamam ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपीत्वा स्थितं यथाकामं दृष्ट्वा वै मातुलात्मजम् ॥ उपमन्युर्व्याघ्रपादिः प्रीत्या प्रोवाच मातरम् ॥ १२ ॥
After drinking, she saw her maternal uncle standing there as she pleased. Upamanyu, the tiger-footed man, spoke to his mother with affection.
english translation
pItvA sthitaM yathAkAmaM dRSTvA vai mAtulAtmajam ॥ upamanyurvyAghrapAdiH prItyA provAca mAtaram ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउपमन्युरुवाच ॥ मातर्मातर्महाभागे मम देहि तपस्विनि ॥ गव्यं क्षीरमतिस्वादु नाल्पमुष्णं पिबाम्यहम् ॥ १३ ॥
Upamanyu said:— O mother, my blessed mother, O saintly woman, please give me sweet cow’s milk. I shall drink it very hot.
english translation
upamanyuruvAca ॥ mAtarmAtarmahAbhAge mama dehi tapasvini ॥ gavyaM kSIramatisvAdu nAlpamuSNaM pibAmyaham ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवायुरुवाच ॥ तच्छ्रुत्वा पुत्रवचनं तन्माता च तपस्विनी ॥ व्याघ्रपादस्य महिषी दुःखमापत्तदा च सा ॥ १४ ॥
Vāyu said:— On hearing the words of her son, the saintly mother, the wife of Vyāghrapāda, was very much distressed.
english translation
vAyuruvAca ॥ tacchrutvA putravacanaM tanmAtA ca tapasvinI ॥ vyAghrapAdasya mahiSI duHkhamApattadA ca sA ॥ 14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउपलाल्याथ सुप्रीत्या पुत्रमालिंग्य सादरम् ॥ दुःखिता विललापाथ स्मृत्वा नैर्धन्यमात्मनः ॥ १५ ॥
With love and affection she embraced the son and fondled him. Considering her poverty she became dejected and lamented.
