आगत्य तीर्थप्रवरे स्नानं कृत्वा विधानतः ।। तर्पयित्वा पितॄन्देवान्मुच्यते ब्रह्महत्यया ।। ६१।।

After coming to the foremost of holy centres, performing the ablution in accordance with the rules and by making the water-offering to the manes one is rid of Brahmahatyā.

english translation

Agatya tIrthapravare snAnaM kRtvA vidhAnataH || tarpayitvA pitRRndevAnmucyate brahmahatyayA || 61||

कपालमोचनं तीर्थं पुरस्कृत्वा तु भैरवः ।। तत्रैव तस्थौ भक्तानां भक्षयन्नघसन्ततिम् ।। ६२।।

Bhairava stood facing the holy centre of Kapālamocana, devouring the series of sins of devotees.

kapAlamocanaM tIrthaM puraskRtvA tu bhairavaH || tatraiva tasthau bhaktAnAM bhakSayannaghasantatim || 62||

कृष्णाष्टम्यान्तु मार्गस्य मासस्य परमेश्वरः ।। आविर्बभूव सल्लीलो भैरवात्मा सताम्प्रियः ।। ६३।।

It was on the eighth day in the dark half of the month of Mārgaśīrṣa that lord Śiva, the favourite of the good and indulging in auspicious sports, manifested himself in the form of Bhairava.

kRSNASTamyAntu mArgasya mAsasya paramezvaraH || AvirbabhUva sallIlo bhairavAtmA satAmpriyaH || 63||

मार्गशीर्षासिताष्टम्यां कालभैरवसन्निधौ ।। उपोष्य जागरं कुर्वन्महापापैः प्रमुच्यते ।। ६४ ।।

The person who observes fast on the eighth day of the dark half of the month of Mārgaśīrṣa in front of Kālabhairava and also keeps awake at night is freed from great sins.

mArgazIrSAsitASTamyAM kAlabhairavasannidhau || upoSya jAgaraM kurvanmahApApaiH pramucyate || 64 ||

अन्यत्रापि नरो भक्त्या तद्व्रतं यः करिष्यति ।। स जागरं महापापैर्मुक्तो यास्यति सद्गतिम् ।। ६५ ।।

He who performs that rite with devotion even elsewhere and also keeps awake is rid of great sins and attains the goal of the good.
