कपालं ब्राह्मणः सद्यो भैरवस्य करांबुजात् ।। पपात भुवि तत्तीर्थमभूत्कापालमोचनम् ।। ५६ ।।

The skull of Brahmā fell on the ground suddenly from the lotus-like hand of Bhairava. The holy centre then became Kapālamocana.

kapAlaM brAhmaNaH sadyo bhairavasya karAMbujAt || papAta bhuvi tattIrthamabhUtkApAlamocanam || 56 ||

कपालं ब्रह्मणो रुद्रस्सर्वेषामेव पश्यताम् ।। हस्तात्पतन्तमालोक्य ननर्त परया मुदा ।। ५७।।

On seeing the skull of Brahmā falling from his hand, even as everyone was watching it, Rudra danced with great joy.

kapAlaM brahmaNo rudrassarveSAmeva pazyatAm || hastAtpatantamAlokya nanarta parayA mudA || 57||

विधेः कपालं नामुंचत्करमत्यन्तदुस्सहम् ।। परस्य भ्रमतः क्वापि तत्काश्यां क्षणतोऽपतत् ।। ५८ ।।

The unbearable skull of Brahmā did not leave his hand as he was roaming elsewhere but it fell down in a trice at Kāśī.

english translation

vidheH kapAlaM nAmuMcatkaramatyantadussaham || parasya bhramataH kvApi tatkAzyAM kSaNato'patat || 58 ||

शूलिनो ब्रह्मणो हत्या नापैति स्म च या क्वचित् ।। सा काश्यां क्षणतो नष्टा तस्मात्सेव्या हि काशिका ।। ५९ ।।

Brahmahatyā which did not leave Siva at any other place vanished in a moment at Kāśī. Hence Kāśī shall be resorted to for shedding off evil.

zUlino brahmaNo hatyA nApaiti sma ca yA kvacit || sA kAzyAM kSaNato naSTA tasmAtsevyA hi kAzikA || 59 ||

कपालमोचनं काश्यां यः स्मरेत्तीर्थमुत्तमम्।। इहान्यत्रापि यत्पापं क्षिप्रं तस्य प्रणश्यति ।। ६० ।।

If a person remembers the excellent holy centre Kapālamocana at Kāśī, his sin committed here and elsewhere becomes quelled immediately.

english translation

kapAlamocanaM kAzyAM yaH smarettIrthamuttamam|| ihAnyatrApi yatpApaM kSipraM tasya praNazyati || 60 ||
