जगत्त्रयीसर्जनार्थं शंकरं नीललोहितम् ।। ललाटेऽचिन्तयत्सोयन्तपस्युग्रे च संस्थितः ।। ४१ ।।

Remaining in a severe penance, he contemplated on Śiva, the blue-necked, in his forehead for the creation of the three worlds.

तल्ललाटादभूच्छम्भुः सृष्ट्यर्थे तेन भूषणम् ।। अतोऽहं देवदेवस्य तस्य भैरवरूपिणः ।। ४२ ।।

Śiva came out of his forehead. I am the ornament of the lord of gods in the form of Bhairava in the matter of creation.

त्वत्संहारे नियुक्तोऽस्मि विनयेन बलेन च ।। देवदेवेन रुद्रेण सकलप्रभुणा हरे ।। ४३ ।।

O Viṣṇu, I have been engaged in subduing you cither through humility or through force, by Rudra the lord of gods, the lord of all.

tvatsaMhAre niyukto'smi vinayena balena ca || devadevena rudreNa sakalaprabhuNA hare || 43 ||

एकं रक्षो विदार्यैव तच्छक्तिकलया युतः ।। अहंकारावलेपेन गर्जसि त्वमतन्द्रितः ।। ४४ ।।

After tearing to pieces a single demon you roar by your arrogance. Actually you are free from slumber only because you are endowed with a digit of his power.

ekaM rakSo vidAryaiva tacchaktikalayA yutaH || ahaMkArAvalepena garjasi tvamatandritaH || 44 ||

उपकारो हि साधूनां सुखाय किल संमतः ।। उपकारो ह्यसाधूनामपकाराय केवलम् ।। ४५ ।।

Help rendered to good men is accepted as conducive to happiness. Help rendered to bad men is conclusive to offence.
