ततस्स भगवाञ्छंभुः कृपया भक्तवत्सलः ॥ दृष्टया संपश्यतो शीघ्रं तत्रैवांतरधीयतः ॥ ३६ ॥
Even as we were watching, the lord Śiva, favourably disposed towards devotees, vanished immediately.
english translation
tatassa bhagavAJchaMbhuH kRpayA bhaktavatsalaH ॥ dRSTayA saMpazyato zIghraM tatraivAMtaradhIyataH ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदा प्रकृति लोकेऽस्मिँल्लिंगपूजाविधिः स्मृतः ॥ लिंगे प्रतिष्ठितश्शंभुर्भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायकः ॥ ३७ ॥
The rite of the worship of the liṅga is instituted ever since in the world. Śiva installed in the liṅga bestows worldly pleasures and salvation.
english translation
tadA prakRti loke'smi~lliMgapUjAvidhiH smRtaH ॥ liMge pratiSThitazzaMbhurbhuktimuktipradAyakaH ॥ 37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलिंगवेदिर्महादेवी लिंगं साक्षान्महेश्वरः ॥ लयनाल्लिंगमित्युक्तं तत्रैव निखिलं जगत् ॥ ३८ ॥
The great goddess is the pedestal for the liṅga. The liṅga is Lord Śiva Himself. Since the whole universe finally merges into in, it is called Liṅga.
english translation
liMgavedirmahAdevI liMgaM sAkSAnmahezvaraH ॥ layanAlliMgamityuktaM tatraiva nikhilaM jagat ॥ 38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्तु लैंगं पठेन्नित्यमाख्यानं लिंगसन्निधौ ॥ षण्मासाच्छिवरूपो वै नात्र कार्या विचारणा ॥ ३९ ॥
He who reads regularly this anecdote of the Liṅga in the vicinity of the liṅga assumes the form of Śiva within six months. There need be no hesitation in this respect.
english translation
yastu laiMgaM paThennityamAkhyAnaM liMgasannidhau ॥ SaNmAsAcchivarUpo vai nAtra kAryA vicAraNA ॥ 39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्तु लिंगसमीपे तु कार्यं किंचित्करोति च ॥ तस्य पुण्यफलं वक्तुं न शक्नोमि महामुने ॥ 2-1-10-४० ॥
O great sage, I cannot adequately express the blessedness accruing to the person who carries on any activity whatsoever in the vicinity of the liṅga.
english translation
yastu liMgasamIpe tu kAryaM kiMcitkaroti ca ॥ tasya puNyaphalaM vaktuM na zaknomi mahAmune ॥ 2-1-10-40 ॥
