    सङ्करो नरकायैव कुलघ्नानां कुलस्य च । पतन्ति पितरो ह्येषां लुप्तपिण्डोदकक्रियाः ॥ १-४२ ॥saGkaro narakAyaiva kulaghnAnAM kulasya ca । patanti pitaro hyeSAM luptapiNDodakakriyAH ॥ 1-42 ॥The intermixture leads the family-ruiners and the family to nothing but the hell; for, their ancestors (their individual souls) fall down ॥ in hell॥, being deprived of the rites of offering rice-balls and water ॥ "shradh and tarpan'' intended to them॥.

    यदृच्छया चोपपन्नं स्वर्गद्वारमपावृतम् । सुखिनः क्षत्रियाः पार्थ लभन्ते युद्धमीदृशम् ॥ २-३२ ॥yadRcchayA copapannaM svargadvAramapAvRtam । sukhinaH kSatriyAH pArtha labhante yuddhamIdRzam ॥ 2-32 ॥Only the fortunate Ksatriyas, O Arjuna! who are called upon to fight in such a battle that comes of itself as an open door to heaven.

    अधर्माभिभवात्कृष्ण प्रदुष्यन्ति कुलस्त्रियः । स्त्रीषु दुष्टासु वार्ष्णेय जायते वर्णसङ्करः ॥ १-४१ ॥adharmAbhibhavAtkRSNa praduSyanti kulastriyaH । strISu duSTAsu vArSNeya jAyate varNasaGkaraH ॥ 1-41 ॥By the prevalence of impiety, O Krsna, the women of the family become corrupt; and , women being corrupted, O Varshenya (descendant of Vrishni), there arises intermingling of castes.

    कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्माः सनातनाः । धर्मे नष्टे कुलं कृत्स्नमधर्मोऽभिभवत्युत ॥ १-४०॥कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्माः सनातनाः । धर्मे नष्टे कुलं कृत्स्नमधर्मोऽभिभवत्युत ॥ १-४०॥With the ruin of a clan, perish its ancient traditions, and when traditions perish, lawlessness overtakes the whole clan.

    स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि । धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाच्छ्रेयोऽन्यत्क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते ॥ २-३१ ॥svadharmamapi cAvekSya na vikampitumarhasi । dharmyAddhi yuddhAcchreyo'nyatkSatriyasya na vidyate ॥ 2-31 ॥Even considering your own duty you should not waver, since there is nothing else better for a Ksatriya than a righteous battle.
