    भूतग्रामः स एवायं भूत्वा भूत्वा प्रलीयते । रात्र्यागमेऽवशः पार्थ प्रभवत्यहरागमे ॥ ८-१९॥bhUtagrAmaH sa evAyaM bhUtvA bhUtvA pralIyate । rAtryAgame'vazaH pArtha prabhavatyaharAgame ॥ 8-19॥This same multitude of beings, being born again and again, is dissolved, helplessly, O Partha (into the Unmanifested) at the coming of the night and comes forth at the coming of the day.

    उच्चैःश्रवसमश्वानां विद्धि माममृतोद्भवम् । ऐरावतं गजेन्द्राणां नराणां च नराधिपम् ॥ १०-२७॥uccaiHzravasamazvAnAM viddhi mAmamRtodbhavam । airAvataM gajendrANAM narANAM ca narAdhipam ॥ 10-27॥Among horses, know Me to be Uccaihsravas, born of Ambrosia (Ambrosia was obtained by the gods by churning the ocean ); Airavata among the lordly elephants; and among men, the Kind of men. ॥ Uccaihsravas and Airavata are respectively the divine horse and elephant of Indra.॥

    अव्यक्ताद् व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे । रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंज्ञके ॥ ८-१८॥avyaktAd vyaktayaH sarvAH prabhavantyaharAgame । rAtryAgame pralIyante tatraivAvyaktasaMjJake ॥ 8-18॥With the coming of day all manifested things emerge from the Unmanifest and when night comes they merge in that itself which is called the Unmanifested.

    सहस्रयुगपर्यन्तमहर्यद् ब्रह्मणो विदुः । रात्रिं युगसहस्रान्तां तेऽहोरात्रविदो जनाः ॥ ८-१७॥sahasrayugaparyantamaharyad brahmaNo viduH । rAtriM yugasahasrAntAM te'horAtravido janAH ॥ 8-17॥Those people who know the day of Bramha which is of a duration of a thousand Yugas (ages) and the night which is also of a thousand Yugas duration, they know day and night.

Among comanders of armies I am Skanda; among large expanses of water I am the Ocean.

    आब्रह्मभुवनाल्लोकाः पुनरावर्तिनोऽर्जुन । मामुपेत्य तु कौन्तेय पुनर्जन्म न विद्यते ॥ ८-१६॥AbrahmabhuvanAllokAH punarAvartino'rjuna । mAmupetya tu kaunteya punarjanma na vidyate ॥ 8-16॥O Arjuna, all the worlds together with the world of Brahma are subject to return. But, O kauntey, there is no rebirth after reaching Me.

    मामुपेत्य पुनर्जन्म दुःखालयमशाश्वतम् । नाप्नुवन्ति महात्मानः संसिद्धिं परमां गताः ॥ ८-१५॥mAmupetya punarjanma duHkhAlayamazAzvatam । nApnuvanti mahAtmAnaH saMsiddhiM paramAM gatAH ॥ 8-15॥Having attained Me these great souls do not again take birth (here) which is the place of pain and is non-eternal: they have reached the highest perfection (liberation).

    आदित्यानामहं विष्णुर्ज्योतिषां रविरंशुमान् । मरीचिर्मरुतामस्मि नक्षत्राणामहं शशी ॥ १०-२१॥AdityAnAmahaM viSNurjyotiSAM raviraMzumAn । marIcirmarutAmasmi nakSatrANAmahaM zazI ॥ 10-21॥Among the (twelve) Adityas, I am Vishnu (vaman ); among luminaries, the radiant sun; I am Marichi among the (seven group or forty-nine) Maruts; among stars ( Nakshatra ) I am the moon.

    अनन्यचेताः सततं यो मां स्मरति नित्यशः । तस्याहं सुलभः पार्थ नित्ययुक्तस्य योगिनः ॥ ८-१४॥ananyacetAH satataM yo mAM smarati nityazaH । tasyAhaM sulabhaH pArtha nityayuktasya yoginaH ॥ 8-14॥O Partha , to that yogi of constant concentration and single-minded attention, who remembers Me uninterruptedly and for long, I am easy of attainment.

    ओमित्येकाक्षरं ब्रह्म व्याहरन्मामनुस्मरन् । यः प्रयाति त्यजन्देहं स याति परमां गतिम् ॥ ८-१३॥omityekAkSaraM brahma vyAharanmAmanusmaran । yaH prayAti tyajandehaM sa yAti paramAM gatim ॥ 8-13॥Uttering the one-syllabled Om the Bramh and remembering Me, he who departs, leaving the body, attains to the Supreme Goal (eternal state).
