Eminent among men ( Janaka ), we seek the hands of this virtuous king's ( Kushadhvaja ) two daughters, unrivalled in beauty, on earth, as consorts ( for Bharata and Shatrughna .). ॥ 1-72-5॥

King it is a perfect match between Sita and Rama and Urmila and Lakshmana, the marriage is in accordance with religious merit. In respect of virtue and beauty the match is perfect. ॥ 1-72-3॥

    मघा ह्यद्य महाबाहो तृतीये दिवसे प्रभो । फल्गुन्यामुत्तरे राजंस्तस्मिन् वैवाहिकं कुरु । रामलक्ष्मणयोरर्थे दानं कार्यं सुखोदयम् ॥ १-७१-२४maghA hyadya mahAbAho tRtIye divase prabho । phalgunyAmuttare rAjaMstasmin vaivAhikaM kuru । rAmalakSmaNayorarthe dAnaM kAryaM sukhodayam ॥ 1-71-24Oh ! great dextrous Dasharatha, the star ruling today is magha. Oh ! lord, on the third day from now, day after tomorrow, when the star Phaalguni comes, in its later part, namely Uttara-PhalugNi, you may make happen this wedding. And the bounties like go-bhuu-tila-hiraNyaadi ( i.e., ' cows, lands, grains, gold etc. ), that ensue the wellbeing of Rama and Lakshmana, may be accorded to the eligible generously . ॥ 1-71-24॥

    रामलक्ष्मणयो राजन् गोदानं कारयस्व ह । पितृकार्यं च भद्रं ते ततो वैवाहिकं कुरु ॥ १-७१-२३rAmalakSmaNayo rAjan godAnaM kArayasva ha । pitRkAryaM ca bhadraM te tato vaivAhikaM kuru ॥ 1-71-23( Having said thus king Janaka said to great King Dasharatha ) Oh ! king Dasharatha, let the preceding ritual of Godaana ( distribution of cows ), be undertaken and let manes be propitiated by the ritual, Naandi-shraadha, and afterwards you make happen the wedding celebrations . thus, all will be blest . ॥ 1-71-23॥

    द्वितीयामूर्मिलां चैव त्रिर्वदामि न संशयः । ददामि परमप्रीतो वध्वौ ते मुनिपुंगव ॥ १-७१-२२dvitIyAmUrmilAM caiva trirvadAmi na saMzayaH । dadAmi paramaprIto vadhvau te munipuMgava ॥ 1-71-22- and thus my second daughter Urmila (to Lakshmana) too . oh ! eminent-saint, with a highly gladdened heart I reiterate thrice while I bestow those maidens, there is no doubt about it .' ॥ 1-71-22॥
