    शुश्रूषमाण आचार्यं सदोपासीत नीचवत् । यानशय्यासनस्थानैर्नातिदूरे कृताञ्जलिः ॥ ११-१७-२९ ॥zuzrUSamANa AcAryaM sadopAsIta nIcavat । yAnazayyAsanasthAnairnAtidUre kRtAJjaliH ॥ 11-17-29 ॥While engaged in serving the spiritual master one should remain as a humble servant, and thus when the guru is walking the servant should humbly walk behind. When the guru lies down to sleep, the servant should also lie down nearby, and when the guru has awakened, the servant should sit near him, massaging his lotus feet and rendering other, similar services. When the guru is sitting down on his āsana, the servant should stand nearby with folded hands, awaiting the guru’s order. In this way one should always worship the spiritual master. ॥ 11-17-29 ॥

    अन्तरायान् वदन्त्येता युञ्जतो योगमुत्तमम् । मया सम्पद्यमानस्य कालक्षपणहेतवः ॥ ११-१५-३३ ॥antarAyAn vadantyetA yuJjato yogamuttamam । mayA sampadyamAnasya kAlakSapaNahetavaH ॥ 11-15-33 ॥Learned experts in devotional service state that the mystic perfections of yoga that I have mentioned are actually impediments and are a waste of time for one who is practicing the supreme yoga, by which one achieves all perfection in life directly from Me. ॥ 11-15-33 ॥

    खञ्जो वा यदि वा काणो दातुः प्रेष्योऽपि वा भवेत् । हीनातिरिक्तगात्रो वा तमप्यपनयेत् पुनः ॥ २४२ ॥khaJjo vA yadi vA kANo dAtuH preSyo'pi vA bhavet । hInAtiriktagAtro vA tamapyapanayet punaH ॥ 242 ॥If a lame man, a one-eyed man, one deficient in a limb, or one with a redundant limb, be even the servant of the performer (of the Sraddha), he must be removed from that place (where the Sraddha is held).

Similarly, King Janamejaya of the Pandava lineage, from whom this fear emanates, is not someone who can be obstructed.' ॥ 1-34-2 ॥

From fear of being tedious I do not give names of the rest.' ॥ 1-31-16 ॥

    पितामहो वा तत्श्राद्धं भुञ्जीतैत्यब्रवीन् मनुः । कामं वा समनुज्ञातः स्वयमेव समाचरेत् ॥ २२२ ॥pitAmaho vA tatzrAddhaM bhuJjItaityabravIn manuH । kAmaM vA samanujJAtaH svayameva samAcaret ॥ 222 ॥Manu has declared that either the grandfather may eat at that Sraddha (as a guest), or (the grandson) having received permission, may perform it, as he desires.
