    न धर्मस्यापदेशेन पापं कृत्वा व्रतं चरेत् । व्रतेन पापं प्रच्छाद्य कुर्वन् स्त्रीशूद्रदम्भनम् ॥ १९८ ॥na dharmasyApadezena pApaM kRtvA vrataM caret । vratena pApaM pracchAdya kurvan strIzUdradambhanam ॥ 198 ॥When he has committed a sin, let him not perform a penance under the pretence (that the act is intended to gain) spiritual merit, (thus) hiding his sin under (the pretext of) a vow and deceiving women and Sudras.

Now let me tell you about it The seeker should practice it in the morning, afternoon, evening, midnight and during the fourth quarter of the night i.e. between three to four in the morning. If he cannot practice it even five times, then he should practice it an equal number of times three times a day (morning, afternoon and evening).
