प्र पर्व॑तानामुश॒ती उ॒पस्था॒दश्वे॑ इव॒ विषि॑ते॒ हास॑माने । गावे॑व शु॒भ्रे मा॒तरा॑ रिहा॒णे विपा॑ट् छुतु॒द्री पय॑सा जवेते ॥ प्र पर्वतानामुशती उपस्थादश्वे इव विषिते हासमाने । गावेव शुभ्रे मातरा रिहाणे विपाट् छुतुद्री पयसा जवेते ॥
Rushing from the flanks of the mountains, eager (to reach the sea) like two mares with loosened reins contending (with each other in speed), like two fair mother cows (hastening) to caress (their calves), the Vipās' and Śutudri, flow readily with (united) waters.
english translation
इन्द्रे॑षिते प्रस॒वं भिक्ष॑माणे॒ अच्छा॑ समु॒द्रं र॒थ्ये॑व याथः । स॒मा॒रा॒णे ऊ॒र्मिभि॒: पिन्व॑माने अ॒न्या वा॑म॒न्यामप्ये॑ति शुभ्रे ॥ इन्द्रेषिते प्रसवं भिक्षमाणे अच्छा समुद्रं रथ्येव याथः । समाराणे ऊर्मिभिः पिन्वमाने अन्या वामन्यामप्येति शुभ्रे ॥
Impelled by Indra, soliciting (his commands), you go to the ocean like charioteers (to their goal); flowing together, and swelling with (your) waves, bright (rivers) one of you proceeds to the other.
english translation
अच्छा॒ सिन्धुं॑ मा॒तृत॑मामयासं॒ विपा॑शमु॒र्वीं सु॒भगा॑मगन्म । व॒त्समि॑व मा॒तरा॑ संरिहा॒णे स॑मा॒नं योनि॒मनु॑ सं॒चर॑न्ती ॥ अच्छा सिन्धुं मातृतमामयासं विपाशमुर्वीं सुभगामगन्म । वत्समिव मातरा संरिहाणे समानं योनिमनु संचरन्ती ॥
I repaired to the most material river; I went to the wide auspicious Vipās', flowing together to a common receptacle, like parent cows (hastening to) caress the calf.
english translation
ए॒ना व॒यं पय॑सा॒ पिन्व॑माना॒ अनु॒ योनिं॑ दे॒वकृ॑तं॒ चर॑न्तीः । न वर्त॑वे प्रस॒वः सर्ग॑तक्तः किं॒युर्विप्रो॑ न॒द्यो॑ जोहवीति ॥ एना वयं पयसा पिन्वमाना अनु योनिं देवकृतं चरन्तीः । न वर्तवे प्रसवः सर्गतक्तः किंयुर्विप्रो नद्यो जोहवीति ॥
The rivers speak: Fertilizing (the land) with this (our) current, we are flowing to the receptacle which has been appointed by the deity (Indra); the course appointed for our going (permits) not of delay; of what is the sage desirious, that he addresses the rivers?

रम॑ध्वं मे॒ वच॑से सो॒म्याय॒ ऋता॑वरी॒रुप॑ मुहू॒र्तमेवै॑: । प्र सिन्धु॒मच्छा॑ बृह॒ती म॑नी॒षाव॒स्युर॑ह्वे कुशि॒कस्य॑ सू॒नुः ॥ रमध्वं मे वचसे सोम्याय ऋतावरीरुप मुहूर्तमेवैः । प्र सिन्धुमच्छा बृहती मनीषावस्युरह्वे कुशिकस्य सूनुः ॥
Viśvāmitra speaks: Rivers, charged with water, rest a moment from your course at my request, who go to gather the Soma; I, the son of Kuśika, desirous of protection, address with earnest prayer especially the river before me.
