ष॒ट्त्रिं॒शाँश्च॑ च॒तुर॑: क॒ल्पय॑न्त॒श्छन्दां॑सि च॒ दध॑त आद्वाद॒शम् । य॒ज्ञं वि॒माय॑ क॒वयो॑ मनी॒ष ऋ॑क्सा॒माभ्यां॒ प्र रथं॑ वर्तयन्ति ॥ षट्त्रिंशाँश्च चतुरः कल्पयन्तश्छन्दांसि च दधत आद्वादशम् । यज्ञं विमाय कवयो मनीष ऋक्सामाभ्यां प्र रथं वर्तयन्ति ॥
Filling thirty-six and four vessels, and holding the metres as far as twelve, measuring out the rite bytheir intelligence, the sages complete the sacrifice with the ṛk and the sāman.

चतु॑र्दशा॒न्ये म॑हि॒मानो॑ अस्य॒ तं धीरा॑ वा॒चा प्र ण॑यन्ति स॒प्त । आप्ना॑नं ती॒र्थं क इ॒ह प्र वो॑च॒द्येन॑ प॒था प्र॒पिब॑न्ते सु॒तस्य॑ ॥ चतुर्दशान्ये महिमानो अस्य तं धीरा वाचा प्र णयन्ति सप्त । आप्नानं तीर्थं क इह प्र वोचद्येन पथा प्रपिबन्ते सुतस्य ॥
There are fourteen other great developments of him, seven sages conduct him by prayer; who maydeclare the expanded place of sanctity at this (rite), the path by which they drink of the libation.

स॒ह॒स्र॒धा प॑ञ्चद॒शान्यु॒क्था याव॒द्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ताव॒दित्तत् । स॒ह॒स्र॒धा म॑हि॒मान॑: स॒हस्रं॒ याव॒द्ब्रह्म॒ विष्ठि॑तं॒ ताव॑ती॒ वाक् ॥ सहस्रधा पञ्चदशान्युक्था यावद्द्यावापृथिवी तावदित्तत् । सहस्रधा महिमानः सहस्रं यावद्ब्रह्म विष्ठितं तावती वाक् ॥
The fifteen chief forms (are found) in a thousand plural ces; as heaven and earth are, so verily in that; thethousand great (functions) are in a thousand places; as Brahmā is variably developed, so is Speech.

कश्छन्द॑सां॒ योग॒मा वे॑द॒ धीर॒: को धिष्ण्यां॒ प्रति॒ वाचं॑ पपाद । कमृ॒त्विजा॑मष्ट॒मं शूर॑माहु॒र्हरी॒ इन्द्र॑स्य॒ नि चि॑काय॒ कः स्वि॑त् ॥ कश्छन्दसां योगमा वेद धीरः को धिष्ण्यां प्रति वाचं पपाद । कमृत्विजामष्टमं शूरमाहुर्हरी इन्द्रस्य नि चिकाय कः स्वित् ॥
What grave person n knows the application of the metres? Who utters the words appropriate to thefunctions (of the) different priests? Whom do they call the eighth of the priests, the independent? Who has done honour to the two bay horses of Indra?

भूम्या॒ अन्तं॒ पर्येके॑ चरन्ति॒ रथ॑स्य धू॒र्षु यु॒क्तासो॑ अस्थुः । श्रम॑स्य दा॒यं वि भ॑जन्त्येभ्यो य॒दा य॒मो भव॑ति ह॒र्म्ये हि॒तः ॥ भूम्या अन्तं पर्येके चरन्ति रथस्य धूर्षु युक्तासो अस्थुः । श्रमस्य दायं वि भजन्त्येभ्यो यदा यमो भवति हर्म्ये हितः ॥
Some (horses) proceed to the limit of the earth; they stand still harnessed to the yoke of the chariot;(the gods) apportion among them the alleviation of fatigue, when the charioteer is plural ced (ready to drive them) to their dwelling.
