आ॒त्मानं॑ ते॒ मन॑सा॒राद॑जानाम॒वो दि॒वा प॒तय॑न्तं पतं॒गम् । शिरो॑ अपश्यं प॒थिभि॑: सु॒गेभि॑ररे॒णुभि॒र्जेह॑मानं पत॒त्रि ॥ आत्मानं ते मनसारादजानामवो दिवा पतयन्तं पतंगम् । शिरो अपश्यं पथिभिः सुगेभिररेणुभिर्जेहमानं पतत्रि ॥

sanskrit

I recognize in my mind your form afar off, going from (the earth) below, by way of heaven, to the sun. I behold your head soaring aloft, and mountain quickly by unobstructed paths, unsullied by dust.

english translation

A॒tmAnaM॑ te॒ mana॑sA॒rAda॑jAnAma॒vo di॒vA pa॒taya॑ntaM pataM॒gam | ziro॑ apazyaM pa॒thibhi॑: su॒gebhi॑rare॒Nubhi॒rjeha॑mAnaM pata॒tri || AtmAnaM te manasArAdajAnAmavo divA patayantaM pataMgam | ziro apazyaM pathibhiH sugebhirareNubhirjehamAnaM patatri ||

अत्रा॑ ते रू॒पमु॑त्त॒मम॑पश्यं॒ जिगी॑षमाणमि॒ष आ प॒दे गोः । य॒दा ते॒ मर्तो॒ अनु॒ भोग॒मान॒ळादिद्ग्रसि॑ष्ठ॒ ओष॑धीरजीगः ॥ अत्रा ते रूपमुत्तममपश्यं जिगीषमाणमिष आ पदे गोः । यदा ते मर्तो अनु भोगमानळादिद्ग्रसिष्ठ ओषधीरजीगः ॥

I behold your most excellent form coming eagerly to (receive) your food in your (holy) plural ce of earth; when your attendant brings you nigh to the enjoyment (of the provender), therefore gredy, you devour the fodder.

अनु॑ त्वा॒ रथो॒ अनु॒ मर्यो॑ अर्व॒न्ननु॒ गावोऽनु॒ भग॑: क॒नीना॑म् । अनु॒ व्राता॑स॒स्तव॑ स॒ख्यमी॑यु॒रनु॑ दे॒वा म॑मिरे वी॒र्यं॑ ते ॥ अनु त्वा रथो अनु मर्यो अर्वन्ननु गावोऽनु भगः कनीनाम् । अनु व्रातासस्तव सख्यमीयुरनु देवा ममिरे वीर्यं ते ॥

The car follows you, O Horse; men attend you; cattle follow you; the loveliness of maidens (waits) upon you; troops of demi-gods following you have sought your friendship; the gods themselves have been admirers of your vigour.

anu॑ tvA॒ ratho॒ anu॒ maryo॑ arva॒nnanu॒ gAvo'nu॒ bhaga॑: ka॒nInA॑m | anu॒ vrAtA॑sa॒stava॑ sa॒khyamI॑yu॒ranu॑ de॒vA ma॑mire vI॒ryaM॑ te || anu tvA ratho anu maryo arvannanu gAvo'nu bhagaH kanInAm | anu vrAtAsastava sakhyamIyuranu devA mamire vIryaM te ||

हिर॑ण्यशृ॒ङ्गोऽयो॑ अस्य॒ पादा॒ मनो॑जवा॒ अव॑र॒ इन्द्र॑ आसीत् । दे॒वा इद॑स्य हवि॒रद्य॑माय॒न्यो अर्व॑न्तं प्रथ॒मो अ॒ध्यति॑ष्ठत् ॥ हिरण्यशृङ्गोऽयो अस्य पादा मनोजवा अवर इन्द्र आसीत् । देवा इदस्य हविरद्यमायन्यो अर्वन्तं प्रथमो अध्यतिष्ठत् ॥

His mane is of gold; his feet are of bronze; and fleet as thought, Indra is his inferior (in speed). The gods have come to partake ofhis (being offered as) oblation; the first who mounted the horse was Indra.

ई॒र्मान्ता॑स॒: सिलि॑कमध्यमास॒: सं शूर॑णासो दि॒व्यासो॒ अत्या॑: । हं॒सा इ॑व श्रेणि॒शो य॑तन्ते॒ यदाक्षि॑षुर्दि॒व्यमज्म॒मश्वा॑: ॥ ईर्मान्तासः सिलिकमध्यमासः सं शूरणासो दिव्यासो अत्याः । हंसा इव श्रेणिशो यतन्ते यदाक्षिषुर्दिव्यमज्ममश्वाः

The full-haunched, slender-waistd, high-spirited, and celestial coursers (of the sun), gallop along like swans in rows, when the horses spread along the heavenly path.
