तव॒ शरी॑रं पतयि॒ष्ण्व॑र्व॒न्तव॑ चि॒त्तं वात॑ इव॒ ध्रजी॑मान् । तव॒ शृङ्गा॑णि॒ विष्ठि॑ता पुरु॒त्रार॑ण्येष॒ज जर्भु॑राणा चरन्ति ॥ तव शरीरं पतयिष्ण्वर्वन्तव चित्तं वात इव ध्रजीमान् । तव शृङ्गाणि विष्ठिता पुरुत्रारण्येषु जर्भुराणा चरन्ति ॥
Your body, horse, is made for motion; your mind is rapid (in intention) as the wind; the hairs (of your mane) are tossed in manifold directions; and spread beautiful in the forests.
english translation
उप॒ प्रागा॒च्छस॑नं वा॒ज्यर्वा॑ देव॒द्रीचा॒ मन॑सा॒ दीध्या॑नः । अ॒जः पु॒रो नी॑यते॒ नाभि॑र॒स्यानु॑ प॒श्चात्क॒वयो॑ यन्ति रे॒भाः ॥ उप प्रागाच्छसनं वाज्यर्वा देवद्रीचा मनसा दीध्यानः । अजः पुरो नीयते नाभिरस्यानु पश्चात्कवयो यन्ति रेभाः ॥
The swift horse approaches the plural ce of immolation, meditating with mind intent upon the gods; the goat bound to him is led before him; after him follow the priests and the singers.
english translation
उप॒ प्रागा॑त्पर॒मं यत्स॒धस्थ॒मर्वाँ॒ अच्छा॑ पि॒तरं॑ मा॒तरं॑ च । अ॒द्या दे॒वाञ्जुष्ट॑तमो॒ हि ग॒म्या अथा शा॑स्ते दा॒शुषे॒ वार्या॑णि ॥ उप प्रागात्परमं यत्सधस्थमर्वाँ अच्छा पितरं मातरं च । अद्या देवाञ्जुष्टतमो हि गम्या अथा शास्ते दाशुषे वार्याणि ॥
The horse proceeds to that assembly which is most excellent; to the presence of his father and his mother, (heaven and earth). Go, (Horse), today rejoicing to the gods, that (the sacrifice) may yield blessings to the donor.
