The installation of the pillars (stambhānāṃ sthāpana) should be performed at an auspicious time, after the sunrise. In the first pillar (brāhmaṇa-stambhe), ghee (sarpi) mixed with mustard (sarṣapa) should be used for the consecration.
The procedure for all the pillars (sarvashuklo vidhiḥ) should be done with purity. For the consecration of the Kshatriya pillar (kṣatriya-stambhe), one should offer a mixture of clothing (vastra) and garlands (mālya) along with anointment (ulepanam).
The offering of all red (sārva raktaṃ) should be given to the Brahmins (dwijebhyaśca gudaudanam). For the Vaishya pillar (vaiśya-stambhe), the procedure should be carried out in the western or northern directions (digbhāge paścimottare).
All should be offered with joy, and to the Brahmins, ghee and rice should be given. For the Shudra pillar, the procedure should be performed with proper care, in the direction of the east or north.
