वर्णाश्चत्वार एवाथ स्तम्भेषु विनियोजिताः । आदित्याश्चैव रुद्राश्च स्थिताः स्तम्भान्तरेश्वथ ॥ ८६॥
The four varnas were assigned to the pillars, and the Adityas and Rudras were placed in the spaces between the pillars.

The beings of the earth were placed in the pillars, along with the apsaras in the halls. The yakshinis were positioned on the surface of the earth, and the great ocean was stationed there as well.

At the doorways, the two powerful beings, Krutanta and Kala, were stationed. They were placed at the gates in the form of serpent heads, symbolizing great strength.

In the doorway, Yama's danda (staff) was placed, with a trident atop it. Both the doorkeepers stood there, one being Yama, the lord of death, and the other being the controller of destiny.
