अर्जुनः फल्गुनॊ जिष्णुः कृष्णॊ बीभत्सुर एव च धनंजयश च केनासि परब्रूहि मम तत्त्वतः शरुता मे तस्य वीरस्य केवला नाम हेतवः ।। ४-३९-१० ।।

sanskrit

'Why art thou named Krishna, and Arjuna, and Phalguna, and Jishnu? Why art thou known as Kiritin and Vibhatsu? And for what reason art thou called Dhananjaya and Savyasachi? I have heard, in days past, of the origin of these names of that mighty hero. If thou canst recount them all, then I shall believe thy words.' ।। 4-39-10 ।।

english translation

arjunaH phalgunò jiSNuH kRSNò bIbhatsura eva ca dhanaMjayaza ca kenAsi parabrUhi mama tattvataH zarutA me tasya vIrasya kevalA nAma hetavaH || 4-39-10 ||
