तवं कालरात्रीम इव कश चिद आतुरः; किं मां दृढं रार्थयसे ऽदय कीचक किं मातुर अङ्के शयितॊ यथा शिशुश; चन्द्रं जिघृक्षुर इव मन्यसे हि माम ॥ ४-१३-२१ ॥
'Why, O Kichaka, dost thou persist in pursuing me—like a dying man longing for the night that shall end his pain? Why desirest thou me, as a child in its mother's arms stretches out its hand to grasp the moon? Thou seekest the wife of those mighty ones, yet there is no refuge for thee—neither on earth, nor in the sky. O Kichaka, is there no wisdom in thee to choose the path of safety, to preserve thy own life?' ॥ 4-13-21 ॥
