‘Today, O slayer of Madhu, I have come to you first. Those of right mind take up the cause of the one who approaches them first—thus did the ancients act.’ ।। 5-7-11 ।।
‘O Krishna, you are the foremost among all right-minded men in the world, ever worthy of respect. I therefore ask you to follow the code of conduct observed by the virtuous.’ ।। 5-7-12 ।।
‘Thereupon Krishna replied, "O king, I do not in the least doubt that you have come first. Yet, O king, the son of Kunti, Dhananjaya, was the first to be seen by me.’ ।। 5-7-13 ।।
‘But it is also said that those who are junior in age are entitled to the first choice. Therefore, the son of Kunti, Dhananjaya, has the right to choose first.’ ।। 5-7-15 ।।
