'Vaishampayana said: The royal messenger, following the orders of the wise King Dhritarashtra, found Yudhishthira, the son of Pritha, who had traveled a considerable distance.' ।। 2-67-1 ।।
उपस्तीर्णा सभा राजन्न अक्षान उप्त्वा युधिष्ठिर एहि पाण्डव दीव्येति पिता तवाम आह भारत ।। २-६७-२ ।।
'The messenger conveyed to him, 'These are the words of your father-like uncle, O Bharata: The assembly is prepared. O son of Pandu, O King Yudhishthira, come and resume the game of dice.'' ।। 2-67-2 ।।
'These outcomes are inevitable, whether I participate in the game or not. This invitation to play is also the command of the old king. Although I know it may lead to my ruin, I cannot refuse.' ।। 2-67-4 ।।
वैशंपायन उवाच इति बरुवन निववृते भरातृभिः सह पाण्डवः जानंश च शकुनेर मायां पार्थॊ दयूतम इयात पुनः ।। २-६७-५ ।।
'Vaishampayana continued: Although a golden deer was a mere illusion, Rama was nonetheless tempted by it. Indeed, when calamities loom, the minds of men often become disordered. Thus, Yudhishthira, having spoken these words, retraced his steps with his brothers.' ।। 2-67-5 ।।
