'Eager to oppose the Pandavas, they hastened to meet the wise King Dhritarashtra, the son of Vichitravirya, and spoke to him with pleasing and cunning words. Duryodhana said;' ।। 2-66-6 ।।
'Have you not heard, O king, what the learned Vrihaspati, the preceptor of the celestials, advised Sakra regarding the affairs of mortals and politics?' ।। 2-66-7 ।।
'Even these words, O slayer of foes, were spoken by Vrihaspati: 'Enemies who continually act maliciously, whether through deceit or force, should be defeated by all possible means.'' ।। 2-66-8 ।।
ते वयं पाण्डवधनैः सर्वान संपूज्य पार्थिवान यदि तान यॊधयिष्यामः किं वा नः परिहास्यति ।। २-६६-९ ।।
'Therefore, if we use the wealth of the Pandavas to gratify the kings of the earth and then go to war with the sons of Pandu, what misfortunes could befall us?' ।। 2-66-9 ।।
अहीन आशीविषान करुद्धान दंशाय समुपस्थितान कृत्वा कण्ठे च पृष्ठे च कः समुत्स्रष्टुम अर्हति ।। २-६६-१० ।।
'Once venomous snakes, full of wrath and poised to strike, have been placed on one's neck and back, is it possible for him to remove them?' ।। 2-66-10 ।।
