जनमेजय उवाच अनुज्ञातांस तान विदित्वा सरत्नधनसंचयान पाण्डवान धार्तराष्ट्राणां कथम आसीन मनस तदा ॥ २-६६-१ ॥
'Janamejaya asked, "How did the sons of Dhritarashtra feel upon learning that the Pandavas, having received Dhritarashtra's permission, had departed from Hastinapura with all their wealth and jewels?"' ॥ 2-66-1 ॥
english translation
वैशंपायन उवाच अनुज्ञातांस तान विदित्वा धृतराष्ट्रेण धीमता राजन दुःशासनः कषिप्रं जगाम भरातरं परति ॥ २-६६-२ ॥
'Vaisampayana said: "O king, upon learning that the wise Dhritarashtra had commanded the Pandavas to return to their capital, Dushasana went immediately to his brother."' ॥ 2-66-2 ॥
english translation
दुर्यॊधनं समासाद्य सामात्यं भरतर्षभ दुःखार्तॊ भरतश्रेष्ठ इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ २-६६-३ ॥
'O bull of the Bharata race, having arrived before Duryodhana with his counselor, the prince, deeply afflicted by grief, began to speak.' ॥ 2-66-3 ॥

दुःखेनैतत समानीतं सथविरॊ नाशयत्य असौ शत्रुसाद गमयद दरव्यं तद बुध्यध्वं महारथाः ॥ २-६६-४ ॥
'Ye mighty warriors, what we had painstakingly acquired has now been squandered by our father. He has entrusted all of that wealth to our enemies.' ॥ 2-66-4 ॥

अथ दुर्यॊधनः कर्णः शकुनिश चापि सौबलः मिथः संगम्य सहिताः पाण्डवान परति मानिनः ॥ २-६६-५ ॥
'Upon hearing this, Duryodhana, Karna, and Shakuni, the son of Suvala—driven by their arrogance—came together.' ॥ 2-66-5 ॥
