कच चिन नगरगुप्त्य अर्थं गरामा नगरवत कृताः गरामवच च कृता रक्षा ते च सर्वे तद अर्पणाः ॥ २-५-७१ ॥
'Have the villages been fortified like towns, and the hamlets and outskirts of villages been strengthened like villages, to ensure the protection of your city? Do you have complete oversight and control over all of these matters?' ॥ 2-5-71 ॥

कच चिद बलेनानुगताः समानि विषमाणि च पुराणचौराः साध्यक्षाश चरन्ति विषये तव ॥ २-५-७२ ॥
'Are thieves and robbers who plunder your town pursued by your police across both level and rugged terrains of your kingdom?' ॥ 2-5-72 ॥
english translation
कच चित सत्रियः सान्त्वयसि कच चित ताश च सुरक्षिताः कच चिन न शरद्दधास्य आसां कच चिद गुह्यं न भाषसे ॥ २-५-७३ ॥
'Do you comfort and protect women in your realm? I trust you don't place undue trust in them or reveal secrets to them. O monarch, upon hearing of any danger and duly reflecting upon it, do you relax in the inner apartments, enjoying all pleasant things?' ॥ 2-5-73 ॥

कच चिच चारान निशि शरुत्वा तत कार्यम अनुचिन्त्य च परियाण्य अनुभवञ शेषे विदित्वाभ्यन्तरं जनम ॥ २-५-७४ ॥
'Do you, upon hearing about the enemies' movements at night, immediately plan and execute countermeasures without hesitation, and then rest only after experiencing the outcome and understanding the situation internally?' ॥ 2-5-74 ॥

कच चिद दवौ परथमौ यामौ रात्र्यां सुप्त्वा विशां पते संचिन्तयसि धर्मार्थौ याम उत्थाय पश्चिमे ॥ २-५-७५ ॥
'Do you, O son of Pandu, contemplate matters of religion and profit while awake during the fourth watch of the night, after sleeping during the second and third watches? Do you then rise from bed at the appropriate time, dress yourself well, and present yourself to your people, accompanied by ministers knowledgeable about auspicious and inauspicious times?' ॥ 2-5-75 ॥
