[व] तत्र तत्रॊपविष्टेषु पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु महत्सु चॊपविष्टेषु गन्धर्वेषु च भारत ।। २-५-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, "While the illustrious Pandavas were seated in that grand Sabha along with the principal Gandharvas, there arrived, O Bharata..."' ।। 2-5-1 ।।

english translation

[va] tatra tatròpaviSTeSu pANDaveSu mahAtmasu mahatsu còpaviSTeSu gandharveSu ca bhArata || 2-5-1 ||

लॊकान अनुचरन सर्वान आगमत तां सभाम ऋषिः नारदः सुमहातेजा ऋषिभिः सहितस तदा ।। २-५-२ ।।

'...the sage Narada, of great energy, arrived in that Sabha, accompanied by other illustrious Rishis, after having traversed all the worlds.' ।। 2-5-2 ।।

lòkAna anucarana sarvAna Agamata tAM sabhAma RSiH nAradaH sumahAtejA RSibhiH sahitasa tadA || 2-5-2 ||

पारिजातेन राजेन्द्र रैवतेन च धीमता सुमुखेन च सौम्येन देवर्षिर अमितद्युतिः सभास्थान पाण्डवान दरष्टुं परीयमाणॊ मनॊजवः ।। २-५-३ ।।

'And the celestial Rishi of immeasurable splendor, endued with great energy was accompanied, O monarch, by Parijata and the intelligent Raivata and Saumya and Sumukha. Possessing the speed of the mind, the Rishi came thither and was filled with gladness upon beholding the Pandavas.' ।। 2-5-3 ।।

pArijAtena rAjendra raivatena ca dhImatA sumukhena ca saumyena devarSira amitadyutiH sabhAsthAna pANDavAna daraSTuM parIyamANò manòjavaH || 2-5-3 ||

तम आगतम ऋषिं दृष्ट्वा नारदं सर्वधर्मवित सहसा पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः परत्युत्थायानुजैः सह अभ्यवादयत परीत्या विनयावनतस तदा ।। २-५-४ ।।

sanskrit

'The Brahmana, upon his arrival, offered blessings and wished Yudhishthira victory. Seeing the learned sage, Yudhishthira, knowledgeable in all the rules of duty, promptly stood up along with his younger brothers. With deep humility and a cheerful heart, the king respectfully greeted the sage and ceremoniously provided him with a suitable seat.' ।। 2-5-4 ।।

english translation

tama Agatama RSiM dRSTvA nAradaM sarvadharmavita sahasA pANDavazreSThaH paratyutthAyAnujaiH saha abhyavAdayata parItyA vinayAvanatasa tadA || 2-5-4 ||

तद अर्हम आसनं तस्मै संप्रदाय यथाविधि अर्चयाम आस रत्नैश च सर्वकामैश च धर्मवित ।। २-५-५ ।।

'The king also gave him kine and the usual offerings of the Arghya including honey and the other ingredients. Conversant with every duty the monarch also worshipped the Rishi with gems and jewels with a whole heart.' ।। 2-5-5 ।।

english translation

tada arhama AsanaM tasmai saMpradAya yathAvidhi arcayAma Asa ratnaiza ca sarvakAmaiza ca dharmavita || 2-5-5 ||
