एकपादांश च तत्राहम अपश्यं दवारि वारितान बल्यर्थं ददतस तस्मै हिरण्यं रजतं बहु ॥ २-४७-१६ ॥
'There I saw the one-footed ones, restrained at the gate, Giving to him as a tribute Much gold and silver.' ॥ 2-47-16 ॥
english translation
ekapAdAMza ca tatrAhama apazyaM davAri vAritAna balyarthaM dadatasa tasmai hiraNyaM rajataM bahu ॥ 2-47-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइन्द्र गॊप कवर्णाभाञ शुकवर्णान मनॊजवान तथैवेन्द्रायुध निभान संध्याभ्रसदृशान अपि ॥ २-४७-१७ ॥
'Those with the color of Indragopa (fireflies), those with parrot-like hues, swift as thought, And those resembling Indra's weapon (rainbow), similar to twilight clouds.' ॥ 2-47-17 ॥
english translation
indra gòpa kavarNAbhAJa zukavarNAna manòjavAna tathaivendrAyudha nibhAna saMdhyAbhrasadRzAna api ॥ 2-47-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनेकवर्णान आरण्यान गृहीत्वाश्वान मनॊजवान जातरूपम अनर्घ्यं च ददुस तस्यैक पादकाः ॥ २-४७-१८ ॥
'The people who arrived with only one leg presented many wild horses to Yudhishthira.' ॥ 2-47-18 ॥
english translation
anekavarNAna AraNyAna gRhItvAzvAna manòjavAna jAtarUpama anarghyaM ca dadusa tasyaika pAdakAH ॥ 2-47-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचीनान हूनाञ शकान ओडून पर्वतान्तरवासिनः वार्ष्णेयान हारहूणांश च कृष्णान हैमवतांस तथा ॥ २-४७-१९ ॥
'I also saw countless Chins, Sakas, and Uddras, along with many barbarous tribes from the forests, numerous Vrishnis, Harahunas, and dusky tribes from the Himavat, as well as many Nipas and coastal dwellers, all waiting at the gate and being refused entry.' ॥ 2-47-19 ॥

cInAna hUnAJa zakAna oDUna parvatAntaravAsinaH vArSNeyAna hArahUNAMza ca kRSNAna haimavatAMsa tathA ॥ 2-47-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन पारयाम्य अभिगतान विविधान दवारि वारितान बल्यर्थं ददतस तस्य नानारूपान अनेकशः ॥ २-४७-२० ॥
'I could not endure seeing the various offerings of those who were turned away at the gate. They presented numerous types of tribute, each in different forms.' ॥ 2-47-20 ॥

na pArayAmya abhigatAna vividhAna davAri vAritAna balyarthaM dadatasa tasya nAnArUpAna anekazaH ॥ 2-47-20 ॥
