विदुरॊ वापि मेधावी कुरूणां परवरॊ मतः उद्धवॊ वा महाबुद्धिर वृष्णीणाम अर्चितॊ नृप ॥ २-४६-११ ॥
'And, O son, I always heed Vidura's advice. Just as the wise Uddhava is highly esteemed among the Vrishnis, so too is Vidura, possessed of great intelligence, regarded as the foremost among the Kurus.' ॥ 2-46-11 ॥
english translation
vidurò vApi medhAvI kurUNAM paravarò mataH uddhavò vA mahAbuddhira vRSNINAma arcitò nRpa ॥ 2-46-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदयूतेन तद अलं पुत्र दयूते भेदॊ हि दृश्यते भेदे विनाशॊ राज्यस्य तत पुत्र परिवर्जय ॥ २-४६-१२ ॥
'Therefore, O son, avoid engaging in dice games, for it is clear that gambling breeds discord. Discord, in turn, leads to the ruin of the kingdom. Thus, O son, abandon this idea of gambling.' ॥ 2-46-12 ॥

dayUtena tada alaM putra dayUte bhedò hi dRzyate bhede vinAzò rAjyasya tata putra parivarjaya ॥ 2-46-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपित्रा मात्रा च पुत्रस्य यद वै कार्यं परं समृतम पराप्तस तवम असि तत तात पितृपैतामहं पदम ॥ २-४६-१३ ॥
'O son, you have received from us what a father and mother are destined to provide: ancestral status and wealth.' ॥ 2-46-13 ॥

pitrA mAtrA ca putrasya yada vai kAryaM paraM samRtama parAptasa tavama asi tata tAta pitRpaitAmahaM padama ॥ 2-46-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधीतवान कृती शास्त्रे लालितः सततं गृहे भरातृज्येष्ठः सथितॊ राज्ये विन्दसे किं न शॊभनम ॥ २-४६-१४ ॥
'You are well-versed in the scriptures, diligent in your studies, and have been lovingly nurtured at home. As the eldest of the Bharatas, you hold a position of honor in the kingdom. What could be more fitting and glorious than this?' ॥ 2-46-14 ॥

adhItavAna kRtI zAstre lAlitaH satataM gRhe bharAtRjyeSThaH sathitò rAjye vindase kiM na zòbhanama ॥ 2-46-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपृथग्जनैर अलभ्यं यद भॊजनाच्छादनं परम तत पराप्तॊ ऽसि महाबाहॊ कस्माच छॊचसि पुत्रक ॥ २-४६-१५ ॥
'O mighty-armed one, you have access to the finest food and clothing, which are beyond the reach of ordinary people. Why, then, do you still grieve?' ॥ 2-46-15 ॥
