विदुरस्य मतं जञात्वा धृतराष्ट्रॊ ऽमबिका सुतः दुर्यॊधनम इदं वाक्यम उवाच विजने पुनः ।। २-४६-६ ।।

sanskrit

'Understanding Vidura's opinion, Dhritarashtra, the son of Ambika, spoke these words to Duryodhana once again, when they were alone.' ।। 2-46-6 ।।

english translation

vidurasya mataM jaJAtvA dhRtarASTrò 'mabikA sutaH duryòdhanama idaM vAkyama uvAca vijane punaH || 2-46-6 ||

hk transliteration

अलं दयूतेन गान्धारे विदुरॊ न परशंसति न हय असौ सुमहाबुद्धिर अहितं नॊ वदिष्यति ।। २-४६-७ ।।

english translation

alaM dayUtena gAndhAre vidurò na parazaMsati na haya asau sumahAbuddhira ahitaM nò vadiSyati || 2-46-7 ||

hk transliteration

हितं हि परमं मन्ये विदुरॊ यत परभाषते करियतां पुत्र तत सर्वम एतन मन्ये हितं तव ।। २-४६-८ ।।

sanskrit

'O son of Gandhari, have nothing to do with dice. Vidura does not approve of it. Being a person of great wisdom, he would never offer advice that is not in my best interest.' ।। 2-46-8 ।।

english translation

hitaM hi paramaM manye vidurò yata parabhASate kariyatAM putra tata sarvama etana manye hitaM tava || 2-46-8 ||

hk transliteration

देवर्षिर वासव गुरुर देवराजाय धीमते यत पराह शास्त्रं भगवान बृहस्पतिर उदारधीः ।। २-४६-९ ।।

sanskrit

'The wise sage Brihaspati, the guru of Indra (the king of gods), who is of noble intellect, imparted this scripture.' ।। 2-46-9 ।।

english translation

devarSira vAsava gurura devarAjAya dhImate yata parAha zAstraM bhagavAna bRhaspatira udAradhIH || 2-46-9 ||

hk transliteration

तद वेद विदुरः सर्वं सरहस्यं महाकविः सथितश च वचने तस्य सदाहम अपि पुत्रक ।। २-४६-१० ।।

sanskrit

'The great poet, knower of the Vedas, understands all of this along with its secrets. And I, my son, am always established in his words.' ।। 2-46-10 ।।

english translation

tada veda viduraH sarvaM sarahasyaM mahAkaviH sathitaza ca vacane tasya sadAhama api putraka || 2-46-10 ||
