'If this Janardana (Krishna), the master of the world and the best among the wise, is to be praised according to your words, then everything you say is meaningless and false.' ।। 2-38-16 ।।
'Just as verses sung frequently by a chanter do not affect the chanter himself, so too do all creatures act according to their inherent nature. This is akin to the bird Bhulinga, which, despite preaching against recklessness, picks the particles of flesh from between a lion's teeth.' ।। 2-38-17 ।।
'Assuredly, your disposition is very base, and there is no doubt about it. Similarly, it appears that the sons of Pandu, who revere Krishna and follow you as their guide, are also tainted by a sinful nature.' ।। 2-38-18 ।।
'O Bhishma, who, knowing himself to be virtuous and knowledgeable, would act as you have, under the guise of virtue? If you truly understand the ways of morality and if your mind is guided by wisdom, then you are indeed blessed.' ।। 2-38-20 ।।
