अर्थसिद्धिं तव अनपगां जरासंधॊ ऽभिमन्यते वयम आसादने तस्य दर्पम अद्य निहन्मि हि ॥ २-१९-११ ॥

'Possessing such a charming and invincible city, Jarasandha is always intent on achieving his goals unlike other kings. However, today we shall humble his pride by defeating him.' ॥ 2-19-11 ॥

english translation

arthasiddhiM tava anapagAM jarAsaMdhò 'bhimanyate vayama AsAdane tasya darpama adya nihanmi hi ॥ 2-19-11 ॥

[व] एवम उक्त्वा ततः सर्वे भरातरॊ विपुलौजसः वार्ष्णेयः पाण्डवेयौ च परतस्थुर मागधं पुरम ॥ २-१९-१२ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, "Thus, those brothers of abundant energy, namely Krishna of the Vrishni race and the two Pandavas, entered the city of Magadha."' ॥ 2-19-12 ॥

[va] evama uktvA tataH sarve bharAtarò vipulaujasaH vArSNeyaH pANDaveyau ca paratasthura mAgadhaM purama ॥ 2-19-12 ॥

तुष्टपुष्टजनॊपेतं चातुर्वर्ण्यजनाकुलम सफीतॊत्सवम अनाधृष्यम आसेदुश च गिरिव्रजम ॥ २-१९-१३ ॥

'They then approached the impregnable city of Girivraja, bustling with cheerful and well-fed residents from all four social orders, where festivities were perpetual.' ॥ 2-19-13 ॥

ते ऽथ दवारम अनासाद्य पुरस्य गिरिम उच्छ्रितम बार्हद्रथैः पूज्यमानं तथा नगरवासिभिः ॥ २-१९-१४ ॥

'Then, without reaching the city gate, they ॥ approached॥ the lofty mountain, Which was worshipped by the Barhadrathas and the city dwellers alike.' ॥ 2-19-14 ॥

te 'tha davArama anAsAdya purasya girima ucchritama bArhadrathaiH pUjyamAnaM tathA nagaravAsibhiH ॥ 2-19-14 ॥

यत्र माषादम ऋषभम आससाद बृहद्रथः तं हत्वा माषनालाश च तिस्रॊ भेरीर अकारयत ॥ २-१९-१५ ॥

'There, Vrihadratha had defeated a cannibal named Rishava, and after slaying the monster, he fashioned three drums from his hide, which he then installed in his city.' ॥ 2-19-15 ॥
