[वा] एष पार्थ महान सवादुः पशुमान नित्यम अम्बुमान निरामयः सुवेश्माढ्यॊ निवेशॊ मागधः शुभः ॥ २-१९-१ ॥
'Vasudeva said, "Behold, O Partha, the magnificent capital of Magadha, standing in all its splendor. Abundant with flocks and herds, its water supply never exhausted, and adorned with fine mansions arranged splendidly, it remains free from every kind of calamity."' ॥ 2-19-1 ॥

वैहारॊ विपुलः शैलॊ वराहॊ वृषभस तथा तथैवर्षिगिरिस तात शुभाश चैत्यक पञ्चमाः ॥ २-१९-२ ॥
'The five great hills—Vaihara, Varaha, Vrishava, Rishigiri, and the delightful Chaitya—each with their lofty peaks and shaded by tall, cool trees, stand connected, seeming to collectively guard the city of Girivraja.' ॥ 2-19-2 ॥

एते पञ्च महाशृङ्गाः पर्वताः शीतलद्रुमाः रक्षन्तीवाभिसंहत्य संहताङ्गा गिरिव्रजम ॥ २-१९-३ ॥
'These five great-peaked mountains with cool trees, Standing united, seem to protect Girivraja.' ॥ 2-19-3 ॥

पुष्पवेष्टित शाखाग्रैर गन्धवद्भिर मनॊरमैः निगूढा इव लॊध्राणां वनैः कामि जनप्रियैः ॥ २-१९-४ ॥
'Their slopes are cloaked in forests of delightful and fragrant Lodhra trees, their branches adorned with blossoms.' ॥ 2-19-4 ॥

शूद्रायां गौतमॊ यत्र महात्मा संशितव्रतः औशीनर्याम अजनयत काक्षीवादीन सुतान ऋषिः ॥ २-१९-५ ॥
'Here, the illustrious Gautama, renowned for his strict vows, fathered Kakshivat and other celebrated sons on Ausinari, the Sudra woman and daughter of Usinara.' ॥ 2-19-5 ॥
