यथा समयम आज्ञाय तदा स नृपसत्तमः दवाभ्याम एकं फलं परादात पत्नीभ्यां भरतर्षभ ।। २-१६-३१ ।।

sanskrit

'Upon hearing the sage's words and reverently worshiping his feet, the wise monarch returned to his palace. Remembering his earlier promise, O bull of the Bharata race, he then gave that single fruit to his two wives.' ।। 2-16-31 ।।

english translation

yathA samayama AjJAya tadA sa nRpasattamaH davAbhyAma ekaM phalaM parAdAta patnIbhyAM bharatarSabha || 2-16-31 ||

'His lovely queens divided the single fruit into two parts and consumed them. Due to the certainty of the sage's words and his truthfulness, both queens conceived as a result of eating that fruit.' ।। 2-16-32 ।।
