[ब] भगवन राज्यम उत्सृज्य परस्थितस्य तपॊवनम किं वरेणाल्प भाग्यस्य किं राज्येनाप्रजस्य मे ।। २-१६-२६ ।।

'O holy one, I am forsaking my kingdom to retire into the forest for ascetic practices. I am extremely unfortunate as I have no son. What use do I have for a kingdom or any boon?' ।। 2-16-26 ।।

english translation

[ba] bhagavana rAjyama utsRjya parasthitasya tapòvanama kiM vareNAlpa bhAgyasya kiM rAjyenAprajasya me || 2-16-26 ||

[क] एतच छरुत्वा मुनिर धयानम अगमत कषुभितेन्द्रियः तस्यैव चाम्र वृक्षस्य छायायां समुपाविशत ।। २-१६-२७ ।।

'Krishna continued,--"Hearing these words (of the king), the Muni controlling his outer senses entered into meditation, sitting in the shade of that very mango tree where he was.' ।। 2-16-27 ।।

[ka] etaca charutvA munira dhayAnama agamata kaSubhitendriyaH tasyaiva cAmra vRkSasya chAyAyAM samupAvizata || 2-16-27 ||

तस्यॊपविष्टस्य मुनेर उत्सङ्गे निपपात ह अवातम अशुकादष्टम एकम आम्रफलं किल ।। २-१६-२८ ।।

'And onto the lap of the seated sage fell a juicy mango untouched by the beak of any parrot or other bird.' ।। 2-16-28 ।।

english translation

tasyòpaviSTasya munera utsaGge nipapAta ha avAtama azukAdaSTama ekama AmraphalaM kila || 2-16-28 ||

तत परगृह्य मुनिश्रेष्ठॊ हृदयेनाभिमन्त्र्य च राज्ञे ददाव अप्रतिमं पुत्रसंप्राप्ति कारकम ।। २-१६-२९ ।।

'Taking up the fruit, that best of sages uttered certain mantras over it and presented it to the king as the means to obtain an incomparable offspring.' ।। 2-16-29 ।।

tata paragRhya munizreSThò hRdayenAbhimantrya ca rAjJe dadAva apratimaM putrasaMprApti kArakama || 2-16-29 ||

उवाच च महाप्राज्ञस तं राजानं महामुनिः गच्छ राजन कृतार्थॊ ऽसि निवर्त मनुजाधिप ।। २-१६-३० ।।

'The great sage, endowed with extraordinary wisdom, addressed the monarch, saying, "O king, your wish is fulfilled. Therefore, refrain from proceeding into the woods."' ।। 2-16-30 ।।
