अभियुञ्जानो योषितः प्रवृत्तिं परीक्षेत तया भावः परीक्षितो भवति । अभियोगाँश्च प्रतिगृह्णीयात् ॥ १ ॥
Once contact has been made, the woman's state of mind must be studied, her feelings examined, ascertaining whether she is sure of herself and her resolution is firm, whether she has amorous relations 'with anyone else or lives with him as his concubine.

सूक्ष्म निरीक्षण आवश्यक-अभियोग करता हुआ नायक स्त्री की प्रवृत्ति की परीक्षा करे, उसी से भाव की परीक्षा हो जाती है, और वह जो उपाय करे, उसका उत्तर दे ॥ १ ॥

मन्त्रमवृण्वानां दूत्यैनां साधयेत् ॥ २ ॥
He succeeds in doing so, thanks to the advice of the go-between.

प्रगल्भा दूती द्वारा ही साध्य हृदय का भाव प्रकटित न करने वाली, धीर परकीया को, रहस्य न कहने वाली, चतुर दूती से ही सिद्ध करना चाहिये ॥ २ ॥

अप्रतिगृह्याभियोगं पुनरपि संसृज्यमानां द्विधाभूतमानसां विद्यात् । तां क्रमेण साधयेत् ॥ ३ ॥
If he cannot obtain a meeting, he realizes that although she desires him, she is of two minds. He must therefore operate gradually in order to make up her mind.

द्विधाग्रस्त — जो स्त्री नायक के अभियोग को अस्वीकार करके भी उससे पुनः मिलती है, उसे दुविधा में फँसी हुई समझना चाहिये। उसे क्रमशः सिद्ध करना चाहिये ॥ ३ ॥

अप्रतिगृह्याभियोगं सविशेषमलंकृता च पुनर्दृश्येत तथैव तमभिगच्छेच्च विविक्ते बलाद् ग्रहणीयां विद्यात् ॥ ४ ॥
Although not granting him the encounter, she nevertheless shows herself to him, carefully dressed and adorned with jewels. From this he deduces that, although she is uncertain about coming to see him, she could be taken by force.

बलात् ग्राह्य-जो स्त्री नायक के अभियोगों को स्वीकार किये बिना भी पहले की अपेक्षा वस्त्राभूषणों से अधिक सज संवरकर आये, तो नायक को उससे पहले के समान ही मिलने का प्रयास करना चाहिये। यदि वह फिर भी हाथ न रखने दे और सज संवर कर भी आती रहे, तो उसे एकान्त में बलपूर्वक सम्भोग कराने वाली समझना चाहिये ॥ ४ ॥

बहूनपि विषहतेऽभियोगान्न च चिरेणापि प्रयच्छत्यात्मानं सा शुष्कप्रतिग्राहिणी परिचयविघटनसाध्या ॥ ५ ॥
If, notwithstanding a great deal of effort and time, he fails to reach his aim, he must realize that the enterprise is fruitless and that the liaison must be broken off.
english translation
अतिपरिचय से साध्य - जो स्त्री अनेक अभियोगों को सहन कर ले और चिरकाल तक भी सम्भोग न होने दे, उसे नीरस अभियोग वाली जानना चाहिये। ऐसी स्त्री अतिपरिचय से ही सिद्ध की जा सकती है ॥ ५ ॥
