सत्वं रजस्तमश्चेति प्रधानास्त्रिगुणास्त्रयः I तेभ्यो जातमिदं विश्वं सृष्टिस्थित्यन्तहेतवः ॥४-६०॥
Primarily, there are three gunas, such as satva, rajas and tamas, wherefrom this Universe has been evolved and which hold the key to creation, sustenance and dissolution.
