अङ्गुष्ठनाभिपर्यन्तमधोभूमौ विनिन्यसेत् । करतलाभ्यां धरां धृत्वा ऊर्ध्वंशीर्ष: फणीव हि ॥२-४१॥

Keeping the palms of both the hands on the ground, raise the body up to the navel along with the head like a snake (the way a snake raises its hood). The thumbs of both hands should be towards or near the navel. This position is called Bhujangasana.

देहाग्निर्वर्द्धते नित्यं सर्वरोगविनाशनम् । जागर्ति भुजनी देवी भुजंगासनसाधनात् ॥२-४२॥

By practicing Bhujangasana, the digestive fire of the seeker becomes more intense every day. All diseases are destroyed by this. Apart from this, by practicing Bhujangasana, Bhujangi Devi (Kundalini Shakti) is awakened.

उत्तानौ चरणौ कृत्वा संस्थाप्य जानुनोपरि । आसनोपरि संस्थाप्य उत्तानं करयुग्मकम् ॥ २-४३॥

Place the soles of both feet upward on your thighs. Now place the palms of both hands upwards (straight) on the feet.

पूरकैर्वायुमाकृष्य नासाग्रमवलोकयेत् । योगासनं भवेदेतद्योगिनां योगसाधने ॥२-४४॥

After this, one should inhale the breath and look at the front part of the nostrils. Yogis have given it the name of Yogasana, considering it as a means of attaining success.
