क्षीरमृष्ट फलपुष्पपादपेष्वापगातटविघट्टितेन वा । वाममध्यरदभङ्गखण्डने शत्रुनाशकृदतो अन्यथा परम् ॥ ९४-११ ॥
If the elephant (hasti) be found to break the middle of its left tusk by striking it against milk trees, fruit or flower trees or the banks of rivers, the ruin of the enemy is indicated and if the right tusk be found to break, there will be misery.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्खलितगतिरकस्मात्त्रस्तकर्णो अतिदीनः श्वसिति मृदु सुदीर्घं न्यस्तहस्तः पृथिव्याम् । द्रुतमुकुलितदृष्टिः स्वप्नशीलो विलोमो भयकृदहितभक्षी नैकशो असृक्शकृत्कृत् ॥ ९४-१२ ॥
If the elephant be found to walk unsteadily, if its ears cease to move on a sudden, if the animal be of dejected appearance, or if it be found to put its trunk to the ground or to breathe softly and long, if the eyes be full of tears, if the animal be found to sleep always or to be restive or to refuse to eat properly or to pass excrement, urine often, there will be misery.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptवल्मीकस्थाणुगुल्मक्षुपतरुमथनः स्वैच्छया हृष्टदृष्टिर् यायाद्यात्राअनुलोमं त्वरितपदगतिर्वक्त्रं उन्नाम्य चौच्चैः । कक्ष्यासन्नाहकाले जनयति च मुहुः शीकरं बृंहितं वा तत्काले वा मदाप्तिर्जयकृदथ रदं वेष्टयन्दक्षिणं च ॥ ९४-१३ ॥
If the elephant be found to attack and break at pleasure anthills, trunks of trees, decayed trees, shrubs or branches, if the eyes be of rutting appearance, if the animal be prepared to start on a journey, if while being adorned with trappings it be often found to throw out drops of water or to cry or if it begin to rut at the time or coil its trunk round its right tusk, there will be success.

valmIkasthANugulmakSupatarumathanaH svaicchayA hRSTadRSTir yAyAdyAtrAanulomaM tvaritapadagatirvaktraM unnAmya cauccaiH । kakSyAsannAhakAle janayati ca muhuH zIkaraM bRMhitaM vA tatkAle vA madAptirjayakRdatha radaM veSTayandakSiNaM ca ॥ 94-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रवेशनं वारिणि वारणस्य ग्राहेण नाशाय भवेन्नृपस्य । ग्राहं गृहोत्वा उत्तरणं नृपस्य तोयात्स्थलं वृद्धिकरं नृभर्तुः ॥ ९४-१४ ॥
If the elephant, while in water, be found to be dragged away by a crocodile, the king will meet with ruin; but if he be found to drag the crocodile to the bank, there will be prosperity.
english translation
pravezanaM vAriNi vAraNasya grAheNa nAzAya bhavennRpasya । grAhaM gRhotvA uttaraNaM nRpasya toyAtsthalaM vRddhikaraM nRbhartuH ॥ 94-14 ॥
