दन्तस्य मूलपरिधिं द्विरायतं प्रोह्य कल्पयेत्शेषम् । अधिकं अनूपचराणां न्यूनं गिरिचारिणां किञ् चित् ॥ ९४-०१ ॥
Measuring the circumference at the base of the tusk, one should leave aside a length equal to twice that measurement and fashion the remaining portion. For elephants inhabiting marshy lands, slightly more should be left, while for those roaming the mountains, the portion left should be slightly less.

dantasya mUlaparidhiM dvirAyataM prohya kalpayetzeSam । adhikaM anUpacarANAM nyUnaM giricAriNAM kiJ cit ॥ 94-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्रीवत्सवर्धमानच्छत्रध्वजचामरानुरूपेषु । छेदे दृष्टेष्वारोग्यविजयधनवृद्धिसौख्यानि ॥ ९४-०२ ॥
When signs resembling the Śrīvatsa, the Vardhamāna, umbrellas, banners, or yak-tail fans are observed in the patterns of a cut, they signify health, victory, the increase of wealth, and happiness.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रहरणसदृशेषु जयो नन्द्यावर्ते प्रनष्टदेशऽप्तिः । लोष्टे तु लब्धपूर्वस्य भवति देशस्य सम्प्राप्तिः ॥ ९४-०३ ॥
Victory is achieved through weapons that are well-matched. In the Nandyāvarta formation, one regains lost territory. However, if a clod of earth is used, the recovery of a land previously possessed is attained.

praharaNasadRzeSu jayo nandyAvarte pranaSTadeza'ptiH । loSTe tu labdhapUrvasya bhavati dezasya samprAptiH ॥ 94-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्त्रीरूपे अश्वविनाशो भृङ्गारे अभ्युत्थिते सुतौत्पत्तिः । कुम्भेन निधिप्राप्तिर्यात्राविघ्नं च दण्डेन ॥ ९४-०४ ॥
When a female form appears, there is a loss of horses; when a ceremonial vase is raised, a son is born. Finding a treasure-trove occurs through a water-pot, while a staff (daṇḍa) indicates an obstacle to the journey.

strIrUpe azvavinAzo bhRGgAre abhyutthite sutautpattiH । kumbhena nidhiprAptiryAtrAvighnaM ca daNDena ॥ 94-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृकलासकपिभुजङ्गेष्वसुभिक्षव्याधयो रिपु वशित्वम् । गृध्रौलूकध्वाङ्क्षश्येनऽकारेषु जनमरकः ॥ ९४-०५ ॥
In the presence of chameleons, monkeys, and snakes, there will be famine and disease, leading to subjugation by enemies. When vultures, owls, crows, and hawks appear, it signifies a deadly plague among the people.
