अण्डीरकष्टीइति रुतेन पूर्णष् टिट्टिट्टिशब्देन तु दीप्त उक्तः । फेण्टः शुभो दक्षिणभागसंस्थो न वाशिते तस्य कृतो विशेषः ॥ ८८-२६ ॥
If the Aṇḍīra be heard to sound as ṭī, it indicates good luck and if the cry be ṭiṭṭiṭṭi, it indicates evil. If the Pheṇṭa be seen on the right side, it indicates good luck. The sound of this bird signifies neither good nor evil.
english translation
aNDIrakaSTIiti rutena pUrNaS TiTTiTTizabdena tu dIpta uktaH । pheNTaH zubho dakSiNabhAgasaMstho na vAzite tasya kRto vizeSaH ॥ 88-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्रीकर्णरुतं तु दक्षिणे क्वक्वक्वैति शुभं प्रकीर्तितम् । मध्यं खलु चिक्चिकिइति यच् शेषं सर्वं उशन्ति निष्फलम् ॥ ८८-२७ ॥
If the Śrīkarṇa be heard to sound as kvakva on the left side, it indicates good luck; but if the cry be cikcik the effects will be indifferent; if otherwise, the sound signifies nothing.
english translation
zrIkarNarutaM tu dakSiNe kvakvakvaiti zubhaM prakIrtitam । madhyaM khalu cikcikiiti yac zeSaM sarvaM uzanti niSphalam ॥ 88-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदुर्बलेरपि चिरिल्विरिल्विति प्रोक्तं इष्टफलदं हि वामतः । वामतश्च यदि दक्षिणं व्रजेत् कार्यसिद्धिं अचिरेण यच्छति ॥ ८८-२८ ॥
If the Durbali be heard to sound as cirilvirilu on the left side, there will be the gain of a desired object and if it be seen to move from left to right, there will be immediate success of work.
english translation
durbalerapi cirilvirilviti proktaM iSTaphaladaM hi vAmataH । vAmatazca yadi dakSiNaM vrajet kAryasiddhiM acireNa yacchati ॥ 88-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचिक्चिकिवाशितं एव तु कृत्वा दक्षिणभागं उपैति तु वामात् । क्षेमकृदेव न साधयते अर्थान् व्यत्ययगो वधबन्धभयाय ॥ ८८-२९ ॥
If the Durbali be seen to move from left to right crying cikciki there will be prosperity but not success of work; if it be seen to pass from right to left, there will be slaughter, imprisonment and fear.
english translation
cikcikivAzitaM eva tu kRtvA dakSiNabhAgaM upaiti tu vAmAt । kSemakRdeva na sAdhayate arthAn vyatyayago vadhabandhabhayAya ॥ 88-29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptक्रक्रैति च सारिका द्रुतं त्रेत्रे वाअप्यभया विरौति या । सा वक्ति यियासतो अचिराद्गात्रेभ्यः क्षतजस्य विस्रुतिम् ॥ ८८-३० ॥
If the Sārikā be heard to sound krakra or fearlessly as tretre, the traveller will soon get wounded and there will be much shedding of blood.
english translation
krakraiti ca sArikA drutaM tretre vAapyabhayA virauti yA । sA vakti yiyAsato acirAdgAtrebhyaH kSatajasya visrutim ॥ 88-30 ॥
