एते यदि सुस्निग्धा वल्मीकैः परिवृतास्ततस्तोयम् । हस्तैस्त्रिभिरुत्तरतश्चतुर्भिरर्धेन च नरेण ॥ ५४-५१ ॥

If these are well-oiled and surrounded by ants, then water. A man should hold three hands in the north, four and a half in the north.

अतृणे सतृणा यस्मिन्सतृणे तृणवर्जिता मही यत्र । तस्मिन्शिरा प्रदिष्टा वक्तव्यं वा धनं चास्मिन् ॥ ५४-५२ ॥

If there should appear a spot covered with grass where there is usually no grass or a spot devoid of grass while there is grass all round, there will respectively be under such spot a current or a treasure.

atRNe satRNA yasminsatRNe tRNavarjitA mahI yatra । tasminzirA pradiSTA vaktavyaM vA dhanaM cAsmin ॥ 54-52 ॥

कण्टक्यकण्टकानां व्यत्यासे अम्भस्त्रिभिः करैः पश्चात् । खात्वा पुरुषत्रितयं त्रिभागयुक्तं धनं वा स्यात् ॥ ५४-५३ ॥

If a thorny tree or plant should grow without thorns, or if thorns should appear on trees or plants that are without them, there will respectively be a current or a treasure at the distance of three cubits to the west of the spot and at a depth of three men and three quarters of man.

kaNTakyakaNTakAnAM vyatyAse ambhastribhiH karaiH pazcAt । khAtvA puruSatritayaM tribhAgayuktaM dhanaM vA syAt ॥ 54-53 ॥

नदति मही गम्भीरं यस्मिंश्चरणाहता जलं तस्मिन् । सार्धैस्त्रिभिर्मनुष्यैः कौबेरी तत्र च शिरा स्यात् ॥ ५४-५४ ॥

Where the ground when struck with the foot produces a loud sound, there will be a current at the spot flowing northwards at a depth of three men and a half.

nadati mahI gambhIraM yasmiMzcaraNAhatA jalaM tasmin । sArdhaistribhirmanuSyaiH kauberI tatra ca zirA syAt ॥ 54-54 ॥

वृक्षस्यएका शाखा यदि विनता भवति पाण्डुरा वा स्यात् । विज्ञातव्यं शाखातले जलं त्रिपुरुषं खात्वा ॥ ५४-५५ ॥

If a branch of a tree should either be low or white, there will be a current directly under it at the depth of three men.

vRkSasyaekA zAkhA yadi vinatA bhavati pANDurA vA syAt । vijJAtavyaM zAkhAtale jalaM tripuruSaM khAtvA ॥ 54-55 ॥
