श्वेतो विश्वम्भरकः प्रथमे पुरुषे तु कुङ्कुमाभो अश्मा । अपरस्यां दिशि च शिरा नश्यति वर्षत्रये अतीते ॥ ५४-२६ ॥

In digging, there will be found a white Viśvambhara, at the depth of a man; below it there will be a crimson-coloured stone. The current that runs on the western side will dry up in three years.

zveto vizvambharakaH prathame puruSe tu kuGkumAbho azmA । aparasyAM dizi ca zirA nazyati varSatraye atIte ॥ 54-26 ॥

सकुशः सित ऐशान्यां वल्मीको यत्र कोविदारस्य । मध्ये तयोर्नरैरर्धपञ्चमैस्तोयं अक्षोभ्यम् ॥ ५४-२७ ॥

If an ant-hill overgrown with the Kuśa grass be seen on the north-eastern side of the Kovidāra, there will be a current at the depth of four men and a half between the tree and the ant-hill and the water supply will be inexhaustible.

english translation

sakuzaH sita aizAnyAM valmIko yatra kovidArasya । madhye tayornarairardhapaJcamaistoyaM akSobhyam ॥ 54-27 ॥

प्रथमे पुरुषे भुजगः कमलोदरसन्निभो मही रक्ता । कुरुविन्दः पाषाणश्चिह्नान्येतानि वाच्यानि ॥ ५४-२८ ॥

In digging, there will be a snake of the colour of the inside of the lotus and at the depth of a man; below it the soil will be red; below it, will be found a precious stone known as Kuruvinda.

यदि भवति सप्तपर्णो वल्मीकवृतस्तदुत्तरे तोयम् । वाच्यं पुरुषैः पञ्चभिरत्रापि भवन्ति चिह्नानि ॥ ५४-२९ ॥

If an ant-hill be seen surrounding the foot of the Saptaparṇa, there will be a current to the north of the tree at the depth of five men and the indications are given below.

yadi bhavati saptaparNo valmIkavRtastaduttare toyam । vAcyaM puruSaiH paJcabhiratrApi bhavanti cihnAni ॥ 54-29 ॥

पुरुषार्धे मण्डूको हरितो हरितालसन्निभा भूश्च । पाषाणो अभ्रनिकाशः सौम्या च शिरा शुभाम्बुवहा ॥ ५४-३० ॥

In digging, there will be seen a green frog at the depth of half a man; below it the soil will be of the colour of yellow orpiment; below it there will be found a stone of the colour of the clouds, and below it there will be a current of good water running northwards.
