धनुःस्थायी रूक्षो रुधिरसदृशः क्षुद्भयकरो बलोद्योगं चन्द्रः कथयति जयं ज्या अस्य च यतः । गवां शृङ्गो गोघ्नो निधनं अपि सस्यस्य कुरुते ज्वलन्धूमायन्वा नृपतिमरणायैव भवति ॥ ४७-१६ ॥
If the Moon should appear like a bow, be of disagreeable aspect and of blood color, mankind would suffer from hunger. People living in the direction of the bow string would become powerful and successful in fight. If the Moon’s horn should point downwards, cows and crops would suffer; if it should appear to blaze or smoke, rulers would perish.

dhanuHsthAyI rUkSo rudhirasadRzaH kSudbhayakaro balodyogaM candraH kathayati jayaM jyA asya ca yataH । gavAM zRGgo goghno nidhanaM api sasyasya kurute jvalandhUmAyanvA nRpatimaraNAyaiva bhavati ॥ 47-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्निग्धः स्थूलः समशृङ्गो विशालस्तुङ्गश्चौदग्विचरन्नागवीथ्याम् । दृष्टः सौम्यैरशुभैर्विप्रयुक्तो लोकानन्दं कुरुते अतीव चन्द्रः ॥ ४७-१७ ॥
If the Moon should appear bright, glossy and of large disc, and if both her horns should be alike, broad and elevated, and if the course of the Moon should lie through the north of the Nāga Vīthi and if she should be within sight of beneíīc planets and free from the influence of malefic ones, mankind would be happy.

snigdhaH sthUlaH samazRGgo vizAlastuGgazcaudagvicarannAgavIthyAm । dRSTaH saumyairazubhairviprayukto lokAnandaM kurute atIva candraH ॥ 47-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपित्र्यमैत्रपुरुहूतविशाखात्वाष्ट्रं एत्य च युनक्ति शशाङ्कः । दक्षिणेन न शुभः शुभकृत् स्याद्यद्युदक्चरति मध्यगतो वा ॥ ४७-१८ ॥
If the course of the Moon should lie to the south of the asterism of Maghā, Anurādhā, Jyeṣṭhā, Viśākhā or Citrā, there would be misery in the land; but if her course should lie through the middle or to the north of the same asterisms, there would be prosperity in the land.

pitryamaitrapuruhUtavizAkhAtvASTraM etya ca yunakti zazAGkaH । dakSiNena na zubhaH zubhakRt syAdyadyudakcarati madhyagato vA ॥ 47-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरिघ इति मेघरेखा या तिर्यग्भास्करोदये अस्ते वा । परिधिस्तु प्रतिसूर्यो दण्डस्त्वृजुरिन्द्रचापनिभः ॥ ४७-१९ ॥
The line of clouds across the Sun’s disc at rising or setting is known as Parigha; Paridhi is also known as Pratisūrya or parhelion, and Daṇḍa is an appearance of the shape of a straight rainbow.
english translation
parigha iti megharekhA yA tiryagbhAskarodaye aste vA । paridhistu pratisUryo daNDastvRjurindracApanibhaH ॥ 47-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउदये अस्ते वा भानोर्ये दीर्घा रश्मयस्त्वमोघास्ते । सुरचापखण्डं ऋजु यद्रोहितं ऐरावतं दीर्घम् ॥ ४७-२० ॥
The long rays of the rising or setting Sun are known as Amogha rays and Airāvata is an appearance resembling a long straight broken rainbow.

udaye aste vA bhAnorye dIrghA razmayastvamoghAste । suracApakhaNDaM Rju yadrohitaM airAvataM dIrgham ॥ 47-20 ॥
