शुककपोतविलोचनसन्निभो मधुनिभश्च यदा हिमदीधितिः । प्रतिशशी च यदा दिवि राजते पतति वारि तदा न चिरेण च ॥ २८-११ ॥
When the Moon (the cold-rayed one) appears like the eyes of a parrot or a pigeon, or shines with a honey-like hue, and when a mock moon (lunar halo) glows in the sky, then rain falls soon, without delay.
english translation
zukakapotavilocanasannibho madhunibhazca yadA himadIdhitiH । pratizazI ca yadA divi rAjate patati vAri tadA na cireNa ca ॥ 28-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्तनितं निशि विद्युतो दिवा रुधिरनिभा यदि दण्डवत्स्थिताः । पवनः पुरतश्च शीतलो यदि सलिलस्य तदाआगमो भवेत् ॥ २८-१२ ॥
If there is thunder at night, lightning by day appearing blood-red and standing upright like a staff, and if a cool wind blows from the front, then the coming of rain is to be expected.
english translation
stanitaM nizi vidyuto divA rudhiranibhA yadi daNDavatsthitAH । pavanaH puratazca zItalo yadi salilasya tadAAgamo bhavet ॥ 28-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवल्लीनां गगनतलौन्मुखाः प्रवालाः स्नायन्ते यदि जलपांशुभिर्विहङ्गाः । सेवन्ते यदि च सरीसृपास्तृणाग्राण्य् आसन्नो भवति तदा जलस्य पातः । २८-१३ ॥
If the tender leaves of plants and creepers should be found to grow with their heads pointed to the sky, if birds should be found to bathe in watery particles or if serpents should be found to rest on grass blades, there will be immediate rain.
english translation
vallInAM gaganatalaunmukhAH pravAlAH snAyante yadi jalapAMzubhirvihaGgAH । sevante yadi ca sarIsRpAstRNAgrANy Asanno bhavati tadA jalasya pAtaH । 28-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमयूरशुकचाषचातकसमानवर्णा यदा जपाकुसुमपङ्कजद्युतिमुषश्च सन्ध्याघनाः । जलोर्मिनगनक्रकच्छपवराहमीनौपमाः प्रभूतपुटसंचया न तु चिरेण यच्छन्त्यपः ॥ २८-१४ ॥
When, at twilight, the clouds take on colors like those of peacocks, parrots, sparrows, and chataka birds, stealing the glow of hibiscus flowers and lotuses; when they resemble waves of water, mountains, crocodiles, tortoises, boars, and fish, gathered in great masses—then, without much delay, they bestow abundant rain.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर्यन्तेषु सुधाशशाङ्कधवला मध्ये अञ्जनालित्विषः स्निग्धा नैकपुटाः क्षरज्जलकणाः सोपानविच्छेदिनः । माहेन्द्रीप्रभवाः प्रयान्त्यपरतः प्राग्वा अम्बुपऽशाउद्भवा ये ते वारिमुचस्त्यजन्ति न चिरादम्भः प्रभूतं भुवि ॥ २८-१५ ॥
When clouds are white at the edges like nectar or the moon, dark in the middle like collyrium, smooth, formed in many layers, dripping drops of water in broken, step-like streams; whether born of the Mahendra quarter or arising from the east or the region of Varuṇasuch rain-bearing clouds pour forth abundant water upon the earth without much delay.
