शक्रचापपरिघप्रतिसूर्या रोहितो अथ तडितः परिवेषः । उद्गमास्तमये यदि भानोरादिशेत्प्रचुरं अम्बु तदाशु ॥ २८-१६ ॥
If at the time of sunrise or sunset, there should be seen in the sky the rainbow, clouds rod-like in shape, the mock-Sun or the appearance known as Rohita (straight rainbow), or lightning or halo, there will be abundance of immediate rain.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदि तित्तिरपत्रनिभं गगनं मुदिताः प्रवदन्ति च पक्षिगणाः । उदयास्तमये सवितुर्द्युनिशं विसृजन्ति घना न चिरेण जलम् ॥ २८-१७ ॥
If at the time of sunrise or sunset the sky should be of the colour of the wings of the partridge, or if there should be heard the sound of birds at play, there will be immediate rain and such rain will continue throughout the day and night.

yadi tittirapatranibhaM gaganaM muditAH pravadanti ca pakSigaNAH । udayAstamaye saviturdyunizaM visRjanti ghanA na cireNa jalam ॥ 28-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयद्यमोघकिरणाः सहस्रगोर् अस्तभूधरकरा इवौच्छ्रिताः । भूसमं च रसते यदाअम्बुदस् तन्महद्भवति वृष्टिलक्षणं ॥ २८-१८ ॥
If at the time of sunset, the white straight rays or the Sun should shoot out as if they formed so many outstretched arms of the Western Ghats and if clouds about the horizon should then begin to roar, there will be abundance of rain.

yadyamoghakiraNAH sahasragor astabhUdharakarA ivaucchritAH । bhUsamaM ca rasate yadAambudas tanmahadbhavati vRSTilakSaNaM ॥ 28-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रावृषि शीतकरो भृगुपुत्रात्सप्तमराशिगतः शुभदृष्टः । सूर्यसुतान्नवपञ्चमगो वा सप्तमगश्च जलाआगमनाय ॥ २८-१९ ॥
If, in winter, the Moon should be in the seventh house from Venus and within view of benefìc planets, or if she should be in the 9th, 5th or 7th house from Saturn (also within view of benefic planets) there will be immediate rain.

prAvRSi zItakaro bhRguputrAtsaptamarAzigataH zubhadRSTaH । sUryasutAnnavapaJcamago vA saptamagazca jalAAgamanAya ॥ 28-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रायो ग्रहाणां उदयास्तकाले समागमे मण्डलसंक्रमे च । पक्षक्षये तीक्ष्णकरायनान्ते वृष्टिर्गते अर्के नियमेन चार्द्राम् ॥ २८-२० ॥
Generally, there will be rain at the periods of heliacal rising and setting of the planets, planetary conjunctions, of new and full moons, when the Sun is at the end of his Ayana (course to the north or south) and when the Sun is in the asterism of Ārdrā.

prAyo grahANAM udayAstakAle samAgame maNDalasaMkrame ca । pakSakSaye tIkSNakarAyanAnte vRSTirgate arke niyamena cArdrAm ॥ 28-20 ॥
