विध्येत्सिरां यथोक्तां वा तृप्तं मेद्यामिषस्य वा । निवाते शाययेदेवं मुच्यते मतिविभ्रमात् ॥ ४६ ॥
Veins should be cut (to let out blood) as described after making the patient satisfied with fatty meat, and made to lie in a place devoid of breeze by this he becomes cured of mental disorders.

vidhyetsirAM yathoktAM vA tRptaM medyAmiSasya vA । nivAte zAyayedevaM mucyate mativibhramAt ॥ 46 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रक्षिप्यासलिले कूपे शोषयेद्वा बुभुक्षया । आश्वासयेत्सुहृत्तं वा वाक्यैर्धर्मार्थसंहितैः ॥ ४७ ॥
The patient may be thrown into a waterless well and subjected to hunger (fasting); or a close friend should console him with words aligned with righteousness (dharma) and practical wisdom (artha).

prakSipyAsalile kUpe zoSayedvA bubhukSayA । AzvAsayetsuhRttaM vA vAkyairdharmArthasaMhitaiH ॥ 47 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रूयादिष्टविनाशं वा दर्शयेदद्भुतानि वा । बद्धं सर्षपतैलाक्तं न्यसेद्वोत्तानमातपे ॥ ४८ ॥
Alternatively, he may be told news of the loss of a beloved person or object, or shown wondrous and astonishing spectacles. Or, the patient's body may be smeared with mustard oil, bound securely, and placed lying face-up under the hot sun.

brUyAdiSTavinAzaM vA darzayedadbhutAni vA । baddhaM sarSapatailAktaM nyasedvottAnamAtape ॥ 48 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकपिकच्छ्वाथवा तप्तैर्लोहतैलजलैः स्पृशेत् । कशाभिस्ताडयित्वा वा बद्धं श्वभ्रे विनिःक्षिपेत् ॥ ४९ ॥
He may be touched with kapikacchū (Mucuna pruriens, which causes severe itching) or with heated iron, oil, or water. He may also be whipped with lashes and thrown into a deep pit or ditch while bound.

Or, he may be confined to a pitch-dark room devoid of weapons, stones, and other people, and frightened with a snake whose fangs have been extracted, or with tamed lions and elephants.
