स्निग्धं नस्यं तथा धूमः शिरःश्रवणतर्पणम् वरणादौ गणे क्षुण्णे क्षीरमर्धोदकं पचेत् ॥ ४ ॥
Lubricating/unctuous nasal medication (snigdhaṃ nasyaṃ), medicated smoking (dhūmaḥ), and therapies that nourish the head and ears (śiraḥ-śravaṇa-tarpaṇam) should also be performed. Herbs of the Varaṇādi Gaṇa (described in Chapter 15 of Sūtrasthāna) are crushed (kṣuṇṇe) and boiled in milk with half its quantity of water (kṣīram ardhodakaṃ pacet),
