Powder of kuṣṭhaṃ – Saussurea lappa fried on a pan, mixed with oil and applied to Arumshika cures itching, exudation, burning sensation and pain.

Oil medicated with mālatī – Jasminum grandiflorum, citraka – Plumbago zeylanica, aśvaghna – Nerium indicum and naktamāla – Pongamia pinnata is beneficial for anointing the head in Chacha (Indralupta) and Arumshika, which have been scraped with a razor.

If the disease does not subside, then attempts should be made to purify the head by emesis and other therapies. In Dāruṇaka (dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis), the vein in the forehead (lālāṭyāṃ sirāṃ) should be venesected/punctured (vidhyet), and habits of cleanliness/hygiene (mṛjām) should be observed regularly (śīlayet).
